drivers footwell button?

hey guys, ive just recently bought a 2002 1.9 tdi sport ibiza and theres something thats really bugging me with it, the car runs totally fine and normal and is perfect, theres just a little button by the bonnet release handle in the drivers foortwell with a picture of the cars interior roof light on it, i have pressed it a few times but nohing has happened?!? does this do anything or is it a dummy switch which is used in a higher spec model?

sorry for being dumb guys but little thing like this really bug me lol

has it bugged you enought to read the manual?

interior sensor for the alarm.
press this and it deactivates it. (once until the ignition is next switched)

lol i had looked briefly through the manual but didnt find it and my dad took it to work to read so i couldnt look, ive just found it in there now tho cheers
