Well after spending around £550 on a full service and to get my cupra fixed im still having problems :(

All the engine lights are out now so the main issues have been fixed (new MAF and Lambda) however i am now getting a bit worried about this new problem!

Basically when the car is moving im getting a sort of droning noise from the front end somewhere  It stops when the car is stationary but carrys on when the car is moving with no power being applied. I have checked under the bonnet and cant see anything so not really sure what to check :( Is getting louder and louder though every day and im scared something might snap or break

The brakes (brembos) are also having a few issues. When i apply them now i can sort of feel them grinding. They still stop the car well but dont feel that good. The pads and disks (As far as i can see) look ok though

It almost feels as though the brakes might be stuck on when driving.

Oh and Im still having power issues. The car hits full boost without issues but if i hold the power on it almost starts to misfire and i loose power :(

Sorry for the long post but would appreciate any advice on any of these problems. Am worried something might snap or break if not fixed soon

Cheers people :)

Have you checked the rear of the disks and pads?

As for the misfire that will be a coil pack on the way out from the sounds of it.

Cheers matey...

Havent checked that much yet to be honest.. Will be taking the wheels off at the weekend though to have a look.

I originally thought coilpack but only appears to happen at full boost and when i have my foot down hard.. Oh and it happens everytime not just occasionally

Is there anyway i can diagnose a faulty coilpack without vagcom ??

you cant diagnose a coilpack with vagcom let alone with out it, you sort of just 'know' when the car starts running ****

it could be a coilpack, it could be your plugs, if you've just had a service, where was it done did they use the correct plugs. is possible you need better plugs because of your spec although i personally wouldnt have thought so as theres others who dont get problems.

the coilpacks can be a pain, but basically you wont know if its them or not until 1 pops and then you start running on three. Eventually though as the misfire gets worse a fault code will appear and you'll know which cylinder, then you can choose to swap the coil if you want to try

The droning noise could be a knackered bearing, does the noise alter as you turn left or right?
It could also be a faulty tyre that is causing the noise, run your hand over the surface of the tyre to check it has worn evenly.

on my car i had this problem,
ended up being a collapsed front wheel bearing and a wrecked inner cv on the drive shaft.

if it is either of them youll wana get them fixed quick.

cool thanks.

Apologies for being thick but how can i tell this and is it something i can replace myself would you say ??

cheers :)

IIRC you will need a bearing press for this - so no you can't do it youselve, unless you have one of these!

If it's a droning noise it will def be the wheel bearing. My GF's A3 just had to have a new wheel bearing as we were starting to go deaf! No idea of cost as it was under warranty!

I did. Blocks either side and a persuading stick. All depends on how hand you are with a spanner really.

Itts like people goin on about wind back tools for rear brakes, you dont NEED them, just helps if you have.

i managed to do the bearing myself at home with a bench vice and some spacers i had already made up for other cars.

its not easy and if you not sure i wouldnt try it yourdself.

I had a droning noise which sounded exactly the same as a knackered bearing and it turned out to be a defective Toyo tyre, so check your tyres before splashing out on bearings.
Defective tyres are not as rare as you think, one of our company cars had the exact same thing with an Avon tyre.

To check if it's the bearing, jack the car up and wiggle the wheel.
There shouldn't be any movement but if there is then you need to get it replaced.

cheers to people for the advice. Have just had a new rear wheel bearing fitted and no more noise.. Im so happy about it.. was getting well loud! :)

Lol shame i still need to sort the power issues :(

Had all the wheels in the air at the weekend and couldnt find a problem with them wobbling but the rear was making noise when spinning..
