Hello another dump question (some might think),

Is there a dump valve that can be turned off so that a noise isnt heard. I have searched but no1 seems to have asked this. I have reason to my madness!
thanks

The 1.8 20VT engine uses a recirculating valve knowen as a diverter valve and the air is dumped/diverted back into the intake system so they are very quite, not like a dump valve/blow off valve.

the only dump valve i know that could be switched of was the diesel ones used on 1.8 mondeos, used and electronic solinoid to control the opening and closing

yeah thats the type of thing i am after! oh well i have a choice to make! dump or not to dump!

Dont dump, as stated above your engine will see the dump as a boost leak and will not run properly!
There are only a few valve which can achieve the woosh sound of a dump and one is the Forge split-r,(do a search) this is a partial dump valve!

am i bein dumb or is this what im on about?? or is it not quite so easy as a flick of a swtch??

i would go for a Forge Dv007 and be happy with that, the switching one i said about used a micro switch that sat on top of the throttle arm this was a crude way but it worked. It also used an EGR valve from a Citroen as well

I found on my LCR that if you fit a Forge 007p and then a nice long air feed down to where one the the front fogs are that the DV is almost silent. Certainly from inside anyway....... ;)

split-r has a blanking plate that you have to screw into place (by hand) on the actual unit. on the auq this means taking engine cover off every time which can become tedious. i just leave it fully recirculating 100% of the time (i.e. no wooshy wooshy noises) because (and this is a contravercial statement) it performs better when its sealed up. its much smoother. go with mr wookie and go Forge 007p. theres no point in sacrificing comfort for a hiss every time you let off.
