i think it depends on which D valve you use.

The forge one is ECu controlled.

but there are some dodgy kits out that work on a microswitch under the accelaerator pedal. ie so when on low revs they lose boost pressure or something.

imho stew is damn rite and that has nothing to do with alloys or makin the car look/sound like summin it isn't,,,
for me what I'd hate of a dump-valved tdi would be the fact it does nothing but sound but the guy bought it cause it's trend,,, just like the lexus lights thing,,, everyone buyin them cos they're trendy,,, no matter if they'll look utter shite,,,

thank you for the support carlo :)

what im trying to say is that putting the cupra alloys on my car doesnt make it a cupra, i didnt want to make it a cupra, i could do all the front end changes if i wanted to and i might think it would look better. If i saw a car going by with the cupra R stuff you were talking about i might well think to myself, hmm that car looks nice, but if a TDI went by and then did a fake dump valve i would think how silly that sounds as they dont actually serve a purpose on a TDI, true the cupra R splitter might look nicer and doesnt serve a purpose too but by having it on there my personal opinion is that it looks nice, not that it sounds like something its not.

Im not trying to have an argument, its all personal opinion which is all we can vent really on this board.

I have a dump valve on my car, Iv always liked the sound they make, yeah fair enough they do fook all for performance, there not exactly fake dump valves though? its not as if im a chav who drives a modded saxo with a simulator dump valve, No! At the end of the day its down to personal preference, Some people like them, some people don't, TBH i don't like big sound systems, some people do.

If everyone liked the same things, we'd all drive the same coloured cars, that would be BORING!

Just my 2p's worth

it's not just they do nothin for performance [they do nothing for performance even on a petrol] the point is they're really useless on a diesel.
I buy an alloy set and I know they're just for the looks, I buy an exhaust and that's for sound/looks and a bit of performance,,, a popoff is just for the reliability side of things [to save the throttle body mainly] not for the sound,,, but on a diesel you just buy it for the sound having no throttle body,,,

this was just to try and express myself better, really don't want to insult/slag anyone,,,

Has it ever ocured to you that there are people that realy like the lexus lights or the dv and not because it's trendy but just because they like it I make my car as I like it and if it is an replica or a rip off of some other car so be it what's important is that I like not what my neiborh thinks of it.
and the reason why I want an dv I already witch explained above is I only like the sound a have an petrol turbo and had to buy an diesel for work and now all i want is the sound is that a crime or something please tell me

yes sorry mate but I just don't get it why people make such problem when some poeple just like something and want to know something about it.
I think we better just help the people how want to do something with there cars so that they are safe and nice instead of fighting if it has any pupose we better advise people what's best.
don't you think and the last thing I want is an argument here with you people
