I'll take that flywheel too so gis a shout once yer hame. :)

Clutch here
Flwwheel I think is in hand
Flywheel bolts and clutch bolts on order

Going to order Goodyear F1 Asymetricals today.
Sticking with the 19's but still plan to get a set of 18's too.

No job is complete without a little drama!! Haha.

Car on the ramp as we speak and now waiting for an alternative DMF to be delivered due to a small mix up.
I asked about putting the original DMF back in but he described it as "toooooootally ****ed"!! LOL
He recons that this probably contributed to the demise of the clutch. Recons it was on borrowed time even before I uped the power. Very glad its all being done now rather than waiting for the DMF to fail unexpectedly.

Had a bit of a scramble trying to get a new DMF that wasn't either stupid money or going to take 3 days for delivery. In the end the garage sourced one locally that was in stock. And the good news is - its only £284!! :) One of the benefits of putting the car to a specialists I guess, they know where to get genuine parts fast and cheap. LOL

He was telling me they went through exactly the same thing with an S3 last month. It came in for a clutch and the guy wanted to re use the existing DMF, despite being told it may well need replaced, box out and guess what, needed a DMF.
All in hand now so should have the car back tomorrow, or if I'm really lucky - tonight.

So hopefully thats done and its all straight forward from here on... then its off to have 4 tyres fitted on Fridaday.

Money pits these fookin cars aren't they lol???

All the cars worth having are mate. And even some of the ones not worth having!! LOL
Plus its our decision to modify them which costs more, increases maintenance and shows any weak points earlier.

To be fair the Cupra is actually pretty good bang for buck out the box and for very little outlay they will run ~350bhp. Not many cars can boast that. Certainly not without costing a fortune to run, insure and tax.

Hahah I know mate, I love me car

I wanted a scooby but the insurance was almost double the cupra lol.

I could bore you to tears with the pro's and con's of the Impreza. Been tuning and looking after loads of them for years. Everything from a standard leggacy turbo with 200k miles on the clock to 500+ BHP weekend track toys. :) I've had 4 of 5 over the years and still have one for track.

As for the Leon....
I picked up the car and had a look over all the oe parts. To be honest the original DMF is not actually that bad. No clunk on rotational movement, damper springs seem to be fine. There is not actually that much lateral movement between the primary and secondary wheels. There is a bit of play, more than a new one has so I can only guess that the guy was concerned about that but I've seen faaaar wosre!
Certainly not as bad as he described but I agree its not worth leaving it in there given that the box and clutch is out anyway.
The OE clutch is actually fine, pleanty meat on the friction plate and nowt wrong with it, obviously just struggling with the extra power so I've kept all the original parts.

To be honest I feel no change for having the new LUK DMF in there. Idle still the same, throttle response the same etc so it couldn't have been as bad as some I've head about.
With the Sachs Stage 1 clutch the pedal feel is heavier, there is no denying that. It took a minute to get used to that but its no big deal and was expected.
To start with it was a bit on / off but this seems to be easing off - or I'm just getting used to it LOL
Was a bit smelly as a result as it was clearly slipping as I tried to find the biting point when trying to reverse or slowly pull forwards.

Now done 200 miles and this seems to be easing. Pedal does seem a little softer too (or I really am adjusting to it). This morning I gave it a bit of a run through a twistie section using wide open throttle right through the rev range on the stock map (300/290) and it held firm with no issues. Reversing into parking space with no smell so its going well so far. Planning another 100 miles on the stock map with similar occasional blasts and then I'll change to the Stage 1+ map (360/350) and see how it all copes.

Also had 4 Goodyear F1 Assymetric 2's fitted on Friday.
First thing I noticed was that road noise is much reduced compared to the Conti Sport 3's that were on there before. I need to play with pressures and set it all up for the way I want the car to behave but so far they feel good. Turn in is precise and side walls not too hard.
Cant really comment on grip and feedback as I've not really used them in anger and they are not even fully "scrubbed" yet. Will report back soon as I've had a chance to properly test them in the wet and dry.

Good review mate, clutch wise very similar to my findings.

It seems to have softened a little and the initial smell from the clutch has gone (now about 400 miles in)

All good and is handling the power of the stage 1 map well :)

Forgot to mention I now have a spare TFSI engine cover (all be it an Audi one). So that will be chopped and fitted to prevent any water getting onto the top of the coil packs etc.
Just need to order a couple of the mounting bracket screws which broke when I removed them to fit the EVOMS heat shield. :(

My back is feeling much better so going to give it another couple weeks and then try and find some time to fit the springs and ALK I've had sitting in the garage for ages then get it booked in to get the geo done.

That brings me to a question....
How much adjustment is there with the stock set up or is there other parts I should purchase first such as camber bolts etc?? Obviously there is a line that needs to be drawn and the car is for fast road / very occasional track so not looking to blow a fortune but if there is very little that can be done on the oe set-up and small parts can allow for adjustment then I'll go down that road.

Thats good to hear Crafoo. Must admit I've never really had such a bad smell after fitting a new clutch to any car and I've had everything from oe to twin plates! Was starting to worry a little. LOL
Like I say, will give it a bit more mileage and see what happens, hope it dies down a bit. Took the car to visit my mum yesterday to put the miles on it and when we got home and reversed up our drive the wife and kids were not very taken with the smell. LOL

Yeah it's not pleasant but I'd read somewhere about it so was kind of prepared for it, expected it to be gone within 500 miles and it was.

Sent from LG G2 using Tuppytalk

I also get a little judder on mine when doing the gently gently stuff like edging forward or reversing.

Not a problem (I don't think anyway) but just something that didn't happen on stock.

I have the same slight vibration if I reverse slowly up a slight incline without a little bit of throttle.

The joys of living with modified cars :)

Cheers mate.

Clutch seems to be bedding in well. Gave the car a good rasp on Friday evening and all is going well.
Tyres seem to be coming along nicely too. First time I've given them a little push in the wet and they seem to deal with it well. Still sensitive with how soon you can get on the power or they will spin but better than the worn Conti sports.

Private plate ordered today. Got one for the Pathfinder too while I was at it. :)

Plan to have smaller plates but stay road legal so probably get some 16 x 4.4 plates made up.
