Cheers to Al for the catch up today and also for the APR HPFP and engine mounts :)
Follower is ready to go in too. Just need to wait for the o-ring to arrive and its good to go.

Was also good to get some advise on clutch. Looks like Sachs will be the winner once the existing one starts to go. Will be sensible and stick with stage 1+ until then. Once its changed........ stage 2+

Next up exhaust. Think I have now settled on BCS, they have answered all my questions and have been spot on!!

That should keep me happy for a while. So much for not modifying this car DOH!!! :)

Good to catch up min!

The Sachs set up was the best one I have driven to be honest. Single Mass Flywheels offer benefits at the expense of sounding **** and not being as tough as some people like to believe.

You are officially on the slippery slope now sir ;)

I've really grown to like the Mk 2s. Car looks great Dunc. I'll have to keep an eye for the that tar remover :)

Edit: Just purchased a litre of Autosmart Tardis to give it a whirl :)

Haha - I know Al. But still have cash to spend on finishing the track car so spending wont be crazy on this car.

Cheers guys.

James - let me know how you get on with it. Its really easy to use. Spray on and gently wipe off. Badly effected areas may need a second application.
It does remove any existing polish / wax though so it should be used as part of the prep stage.
Rinse well after you use it too!

I now have everything to fit the APR HPFP, new follower, new seal etc so thats my job for this weekend.

I've managed to pick up an Evoms intake at a good price so thats the intake sorted.
Car is booked into the main stealers for oil and filter service at the end of the month just to retail the full main dealer history. I've already done the oil and filter with genuine parts since I bought it and will continue to do so every 5k miles between main dealer services.
Looking to change to range 8 plugs and go red coils this month too.

Also got a GB price from APR for mapping so thats the decision made.
By end of March it will be running stage 1+ with intake.
I'll add a BCS cat back to that in April.

Started looking at prices for uprated clutch and not sure if I'll go SMF or DMF..... I'm open to opinions if anyone has tried both??

I have the DMF with Sachs organic clutch fitted and its superb. Handles the power I'm running no bother and has a near stick pedal feel. Any reason your goin to an 8 grade spark plug??? I have the 7s in mine without any issues.

I have done all sorts. Best in my opinion is Sachs with Dual Mass Flywheel. That being said there are a couple of single mass kits that may be worth trying like the one WeeG has. I will be able to compare that from Sunday too weather permitting :)

Would be interested in the comparisons Al.
Did you fit a new DMF too? What sort of price was the clutch?

I guess the 8's are just really based on my subaru roots. Always use the colder plugs for a tuned motor. For all the difference in cost why not, unless they cause issues in colder weather or foul easily??

Would have been up for a run out to Crail but have a mate coming round to help me wire up the garage. Its own consumer unit, more lights, more sockets, outside security lights etc. Then I can get the plasterboard on the ceiling and try and keep the heat in better making it a much nicer place to work :)

Cheers. Love a clean car. Just a shame they dont stay clean for long LOL

Went out and fitted the APR HPFP today. Easy enough job. Put a new follower in too.
The old one looked OK but I had a new one here so might as well put it in.

Just waiting on the Evoms to turn up now.
Booked in for APR Stage 1+ for the 8'th March at Ecotune. :)

Nope, not new.

I got a 9 month old one for £150 from a guy called Chris from the central belt. He had it on a Octavia VRS but sold the car. It was listed on e-bay thats where I found it. Just contacted him to see what he wanted. Then he listed it as "buy it now" at the agreed price.

Job done. :)

Was the Octavia running a K04 Turbo or have a relocated DV loon? If not you will have to factor in fitting the hose to the DV in to the intake at some point as an Octavia runs the DV in a different location which means the intake is slightly different.

Yup. Cheap enough to take a punt on it and see whats what. He originally wanted £170 for it so just made an offer to see what he would say. To be honest thats as much as I'd spend on a used intake from e-bay. Your never sure what your getting till its here. Although to be fair the fact he offered to deliver it in person next time he's up here to go offshore so thats always a good sign.

Cheers Al, yeah I had a quick look into that. The guy didn't know but after looking online it looks like exactly the same kit only the k03 kit doesn't have the return point after the MAF but the K04 kit does.
I figured at that price I'd either get lucky and it would be a k04 kit with a bung fitted or I could modify the small 90 deg pipe after the MAF to add the entry for the return line.
Not sure if any of the UK retailers would be willing to order me the small pipe only or if thats even possible but like I say, worth a pop. :)
