Hi guys great site!
I drive a 1.2 ibiza (02) and have recently been spending through the nose on a new suspension arm and bushes, new anti roll bar, new exhaust and now its off the road and wont start at all as the engine timing and egr valve has gone
I was wondering if anyone knows anywhere where i can get a cheap egr valve and timing tool/chain?
i dont want to give up on my car yet as its a nice motor but with all the recent probs ive had with it im loosing faith... has anyone else had similar probs?
cheers
Greg from Bournemouth

 hello mate welcome to the site ! the timing chain jumping a tooth on the 1.2's is exstreamly common and seat i belive are discounting this work to be done as it is a problem from the factory egr valve can be cleaned out so give that a try first

thanks!

Hi mate!
Thanks for that!... so seat are discouting the cost of repair for this!?... nice1!
they didnt mention anything on the phone when i rang them earlier today but ill make sure i drop that into the convo when i call them again tommoz! cheers

saythat you know its a common factory problem for the 1,2 engine timing chain to jusmp a tooth and have heard of complimenty money to cover this problem has happen to a few of the 1.2 lad/lasses on here and if i remember correctly they got good discount!

if you push it they will go 50/50 on the price as a good will thing

the tensioner for the chain fails and allows it to jump teeth, if it jumps more than a few teeth it will not start as the crank/timing sensor inhibits the starter motor to stop valve damage

let us know if this is the problem and if they help with the cost

also the EGR valve fault may be affect of the timing being out

BTW it seems to normally happen around 50k miles
