Thinking about giving the engine a clean as its rather messy in there after 50 000 miles anyway, I hear the best way is to use the Autoglym stuff, and lock it in with a sealer. Iv also heard hosing it helps a lot 2 after getting the engine warm. What would I need to cover if I was to hose the engine down? and is it worth doing or should I just get in there with a toothbrush lol

get some engine degreaser from halfrauds and apply it when engine is warm not hot, then carefully hose it off

don't worry too much as it all gets wet when you go through puddles anyway, I hose mine off quite often with no probs at all

Main thing you need is some degreaser and a decent supply of rags, to get all the crap off the metal ares. Then something to treat the plastics with.
There's a fair few guides from a quick google.

yer had a quick look af got some auto glym degreaser some palstic treater just was wondering what hosing it would do lol

for the plastics i use autoglym vinyl care ( squishy bottle -yellowish label)

i take the car for a run to get a bit of heat under the bonnet and just spray everything , brings everything up lovely , no need for cleaning as such

job jobbed lol

ah right chears lads, never done it before. Probably wise to take it for a run after to evaporate all the water as well I take it

what bits wortt covering other than the battery obviously? What I was thinking was the battery the air intake and cable joins. Anything else o and round back of headlights as there drilled

aye thought as much probably want to give the alt a good clean its a bit mucky. o and I havnt got the engine cover off can I still get to the coilpack?

Have to say for a 1.2 Im inpressed with this car. Gave my mates corsa a thrashing today bloody fool, wouldnt have shown my face had a corsa out done me lol.

i just get stuck in with some good elbow grease but takes me ages maybe i should invest in some degreaser stuff

cool mine was loads more than that grrr lol. Anyway it is pretty good never heard a bad review about it, apprarntly they give it when u buy a mini aswell, my friend told me when he seen it(think he was just rubbing in that he has new mini mainly)
