Here's a photo of the engine cover in my 4.5 Leon - dull and boring isn't it? Other 4.5 owners will be familiar with this as well.

From a bit or research I know that earlier Leon covers were badged in some way, either with the CUPRA font and chequered flag motif, or even just the CUPRA badge. Does anyone know if one of the earlier covers will fit the 4.5?

There are numerous types of CUPRA badges available online which will fit onto the 4.5 cover, but seeing as they're attached by a 3M backing, and what with the heat of the cover itself with the engine running, the last thing you need is the badge detaching and falling into the fan belt area.

Otherwise, has anyone jazzed up in some way the cover in their 4.5? I'd be interested to see a photo if you have.

This is the same boring cover that I eventually got (had to wait a year as OE had to be removed) on my 2022 Leon. All my old SEAT Cupras had red writing etc on, had thought of making up a template and using heat proof caliper paint to put a CUPRA logo on but never got round to it.:(

Yea these new engine covers are ****, considering the price of them especially the higher spec models you'd expect them to come with a decent cover. my mk3 leon cupra had a proper cover with cupra badges etc

The days when VAG engine covers are personalised to the brand are long since gone, especially as it’s a part that’s only seen infrequently by most owners. I dare say there may even be some owners who don’t carry out regular under bonnet fluid level checks and may never see the engine cover! 😮.

Adding a brand specific badge would probably cost no more than a pound or two. However a pound or two saved per vehicle will add up to a decent overall saving when you consider the number of cars produced across the VAG brands.

My last VW - an GTI - also had a plain, generic engine cover and I saw it every 10-14 days (when I washed my car and when I checked under bonnet fluid levels). Did it bother me that it didn’t have a VW or a GTI badge? Not in the slightest, but then we’re all different and what’s important to some will be less important to others.
