as the title says my engine management light came on today driving to work car is a 150 fr tdi only mod is a green panel filter which has been in for about 15 months... power seems to be fine revs all way upto red line boost comes in around 2000 rpm and it seems no smokier than normal, had a look at the air filter/ maf tonight gave it a clean but the light still is on, car is still under warranty until next year but was wondering if anyone else may have experienced this in a similar car as i cant get to dealer unitl friday but need the car for work .......

been to the dealers tonight cant run a diagnostic check for nearly 2 weeks 4 th september but the service guy asked a few questions and then said it could be 1 coil pack but diesels dont have them, brake light switch but my brake lights work and the third thing was the coolant sensor faulty sounds pretty convinced that is the problem so have got to wait till 4th sept

when i had my light come on, i phoned SEAT ASSISTANCE, as car was under warranty.
AA came out and did a DIAGNOSTIC CHECK. had a new sensor replaced.
car running too lean chap told me if i am remembering right.

I have a 150 Tdi with 130,000 and me and my EM light are starting to develop a bit of a relationship, I see it more often than the misses.

Nothing ever serious, glow plugs was one issue, speed sensor was another.

I missed a gear once, hit the rev limiter and the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree, traction control light came on (wouldn't switch off although TC worked fine), EM light came on and the glow plug light flashed continuously. Dealer said not to worry about it, it even got through the MOT with that lot on, although the examiner did make a comment about them!

Don't worry yourself too much, it should be fairly straightforward, if it was anything serious it would put the engine into 'safe' mode which you would notice easily.

I had the same thing and got myself towed there...

I had a faulty valve that had to be replaced (I think) and the dealer said that it was the best that I had it towed - fixed under warranty too :)

My EM light came on a few months ago, took it to local Seat garage and ended up being the brake light switch! But my brakes & lights seemed to all be working fine!!!

at last took him in to be diagnosed plugged him into pc and straight away the mechanic said whats performance been like my reply was good as usual he was puzzled as the diagnostics reackoned that glow plug number 3 was not working.. he replaced it and reset the engine management light and hey presto all done.
