engine management light

when this is on in a seat ibiza cupra... does it run is safe mode (half the boost) ? just heard this on another site somewhere and wondered if it was true?

Not always. Majority of the time its for something minor.

well the fault was the camshaft positioning sensor.... engine wouldnt go above 4k revs at one point and was missing... so im guessing thats quite major? lol
