If you do look closly you can see the stick moving in 1st and 3rd although not very clear.

It looks like the camara is jolting (it is abit) but its more the stick moving.

Just off out to check the suggested things now.

Bill when you say the cir clips do you mean the black clips with the spring on that you twist and pull back if you where going to adjust the linkage? And also the bracket do you mean the item that can be swapped for the TT version?

no circlips as in the ones which hold the cables to the mounting brkt for the cables onto the g'box

the test is stick it in 1st gear, handbrake on, ease up on the clutch biting point and see the engine move under the load.. if that other vid was just revving it, your mounts are shagged or loose.

Once under the bonnet i swa the ones you ment and all seemed ok to me. But im a glazier not a mechanic so couldnt be 100% although i would have thought the garage should have checked that!

The first vid was with the clutch at the biting point giving it revs also.

Would that suggest that the mounts are shagged? Or should i re-do it just bringing the clutch to the biting point.

IIRC my old man did do it without revs also and there was movment from the engine.

you could stick it in 5th, pop off the gera cables, redo the load test and see what the shift mech does on the box.. if it does'nt move about, it can only be interection of movement and cables. (ie mounts or something loose in that lot)

Cheers Bill, will try that when i get home from work.

Ill post up some new vids with just revving it and also just bringing the clutch to it biting point.

Do you think its worth getting a set of mounts on order from you in the morning?

the mounts will reduce that movement for sure. BUT check all yours are done up first and do this other check to confirm its movement induced and not internal g'box selector (which would be unluck/unlikely)

Cheers for that Phil,

I had avery quick snoop under the car today on my lunch break, when i lefted the rubber boot that sits over the front engine mount i could feel what felt like slits/tears in the rubber mount? Im assuming that there not supposed to be there and the mount is shagged?

Im going to try what bill said tommrow when i get in from work.

Cheers Alex i may have to take you up on that offer, are you open saturdays?

Small update, ive tryed what Bill said and disconneted the linkage from the box, revved it up to about 60mph on the stands and let off and it jumped stright back out :( so i belive that i can rule mounts out of the question?

When pulled the shifter up and into 5th on top of the box there seems to be hell of alot of play from left to right on the shifter, feels very loose.

I did also secure the shifter in place with a zip tie, revved it up again and everything was fine.

and just to top it off one of the clips on the spring clip broke so now i cant even move the car:lol: suppose its give me a excuse to get a shorter shift one from the TT shop!

Fantastic!

Unless its possible that somthing has worn on the shifter on top of the box to me it looks like i should get ready for a box rebuild or a recon box.

Anybody have any idea what a recon box costs and wheres the best place to look.

shift mech isn't loose on the gearbox by any chance?

you'd probably have seen it when you wiggled it anyway

Dont think so no, i managed to get half a turn on it yesterday but it wasnt loose.

Going to order the shorter shift from the TT shop today to replace the shifter aswell as the broken clip i dont expect this will fix anything bare the broken clip but its another thing ruled out.

Anybody know of any online places i would get a recon box? And what kind of price im looking at or the approx price of a rebiuld on my box?

Cheers.
