FAO Ibiza and spacers>Locking wheel bolts!!

Right ladys and gents, ive been searching the net for long locking wheel bolts to go with my spacers. Ive got 15mm hubcentric with longer bolts supllied from BIll off here.

Basically ive found these and thought i would show you all, as ive read some are in need of them!!

These are taper type as i have different alloys but i have checked and you can get them for radius type to!

so what's the normal 'shaft' length? (19.8mm ??)

i'm assuming that

'standard shaft length' + 'spacer depth' = 'new shaft length'

Well on the standard bolt thats sat in front of me i have a measurement of 24mm's for the thread length, the spacers i'll be running are 15mm giving me a new combined total of 39mm's. So i presume i can get away with the 39.9mm locking wheel nut's from Mcgard.

If anyone has used Mcgard and ordered the 39.9mm locking nut's please speak up, how did you rate their service and did the bolts fit? Is that extra 0.9mm going to hit the point of fit or not?

Does anyone know anywhere in the UK that may stock these wheel nuts?

I've had another thought. (2nd for the day!) How many do you get in a set?

I'll only need longer ones for the back, so a minimum of 2, but I'd assume that 'sets' come in 4, unless that site allows you to buy a bolt at a time.
So, if it allows selection of one bolt at a time, I'd order 2 normal, and 2 long ones.

What's their prices?

Previously I've used longer bolts on the back of mine (not locking bolts), just to hold the wheel on (without the 15mm spacer), and i had no problems, but my car's a MK2, so may be different in your case.

I've been thinking the same, i was thinking that if i got four 24mm's and four 39mm's i'd then create a set for someone else who was in need of them. That way it would half the cost.

Just to let you guys know I bought a set of McGard locking wheelnuts for the rear of my Ibiza which was running 15mm spacers for a month before I decided to sell the car. If any of you would like these just send me a pm with an offer. As new in packaging and unused.

Hi guys ,

Sorry for the late reply, yes i bought these and got 2 of them machined down by my mate who works in a metal factory, so i have 4 locking nuts all running off the same key. The rear ones fitted perfect with 15mm spacers, however im now running on 10mm spacers and they are still fine.

I ordered them simply buy going into my local halfords and giving them the part number as seen on that link abouve. They cost me £35 whihc isnt to bad really!and they came in 3 working days.

Just bought Edz locking bolts off him i'm in two minds whether to cut the bolts that are too long, have them machined or simply buy a set of 24mm ones and then sell the excess numbers off.

Good point, however the key's are generally the same between makers so if i buy a second set of smaller bolt's i'll have one spare key. That is if they keep all the keys the same, a lot manufacturers do.

??????????? Wassa point of having locking bolts if keys are easy to find/get??? Am I missing something here - won't the scallys have a spare bolt key available to liberate your nice wheels????

But if you use a good brand like McGuard theirs loads of difference combinations, it's just to slow people down... You can have them off in seconds with no locking wheel bolts, but slow them down the chances are they'll run out of time before getting away with £1000's worth of alloys.

Hi y'all - 6 months late I know but I have a pair of steel 15mm hubcentric spacers + long bolts - suitable for a mk3 beeza with disc rear brakes - DOES NOT FIT DRUM BRAKES!!

I had to buy alloy ones for my crappy 1.4mpi

If they don't fit the Drum brakes they won't fit the discs either as their exactly the same... Trust me I had drums and spacers on my 1.6 then fitting a disc conversion and used the same spacers!!

I bought the stainless steel ones which are mostly identical to the aluminium ones available from the well known supplier of these beasties - i forget the name now - but its the one everyone links u to on this forum....

They have found the aluminium version works for drum brake editions and fits nice - its a tiny lip that sticks out from the hub and means the steel spacers sit 5mm out from the hub - this lip is milled out on the ally spacers...so the spacers offer up true.

either way - if anyone is interested - try em - and if it doesnt work ill give the money back, its no big deal....

I cant really say they WILL fit cos ive never seen the hub on a disc version - im jsut tellin u what they told me.... - ill post some pictures for you so you can see what i mean, i took pics when they didnt fit to show them what was wrong.... - but im off out in london now so you'll have to wait until tomorrow.

Were your spacers aluminium in the first place? the stainless steel ones didnt fit because they didnt have a tiny bit machined out, I think the ally ones had this milled out as standard - and i dont think its necessary for disc versions...
