hey folks, i thought id start this thread as the time has nearly come for some new tyres for my Cupra, having done close to 10,000 miles on this set so far ( im rather pleased at that, my previous best was a full set of 4 in 4000 miles on my mk2 golf 16v)
now i know that the longivity of tyres is difficult to compare as everyone has different driving conditions, including but not limited to: varying degrees of lunacy, different levels of power/torque, different roads, journeys, amount of roundabouts etc etc etc.
however i would like to ask you all what tyres are you running on your cupra, and do you have a 'favourite road tyre' and why?
i am currently running 205/45/16 Pirrelli Pzero Nero's (set of 4,) @ about £80 a tyre and i must say i have found them pretty good. they seem to have plenty grip in the dry, you have to be serious silly to get the back end to come round on you, and understeer is very little, only if you mega load the tyre too quick and even then its only a little, they work well in the wet also and i found them 100 times better than i was expecting in the snow, i was out everyday in the car and not getting stuck! only ever had to dig myself out of parking spaces and as above they have lasted ok considering the roads are shocking and i dont drive very slow....( but always within the speed limits of course!!! ahem
)
i ask as altho i am happy about these tyres, it is of course always possible that a better/more suitable tyre is out there!
id appreciate any input
thanks
Paul
