hey folks, i thought id start this thread as the time has nearly come for some new tyres for my Cupra, having done close to 10,000 miles on this set so far ( im rather pleased at that, my previous best was a full set of 4 in 4000 miles on my mk2 golf 16v)

now i know that the longivity of tyres is difficult to compare as everyone has different driving conditions, including but not limited to: varying degrees of lunacy, different levels of power/torque, different roads, journeys, amount of roundabouts etc etc etc.

however i would like to ask you all what tyres are you running on your cupra, and do you have a 'favourite road tyre' and why?

i am currently running 205/45/16 Pirrelli Pzero Nero's (set of 4,) @ about £80 a tyre and i must say i have found them pretty good. they seem to have plenty grip in the dry, you have to be serious silly to get the back end to come round on you, and understeer is very little, only if you mega load the tyre too quick and even then its only a little, they work well in the wet also and i found them 100 times better than i was expecting in the snow, i was out everyday in the car and not getting stuck! only ever had to dig myself out of parking spaces and as above they have lasted ok considering the roads are shocking and i dont drive very slow....( but always within the speed limits of course!!! ahem )

i ask as altho i am happy about these tyres, it is of course always possible that a better/more suitable tyre is out there!

id appreciate any input :)

thanks
Paul

i had to differents sets on my ibiza cupra (225bhp) 1st was toyo proxes t1rs and they were a great all round tyre good in wet aswell as in the dry
now im running yoko parada spec 2s and they are simply awsome in the dry ! i dont drive nicley if you know what i mean and i cant get them to loose traction, but they will kill you if not carefull in wet lol !!

I run uniroyal rainsport 2's there very good in dry and unbelievable in the wet!!!!, I've got 20,000 miles out of the front set with a mix of motorway miles and hard country lane driving. I had some p-zero's on the front when I brought the cupra and they would spin up like crazy in 1st and 2nd gear in the damp/wet but the uniroyal hardly spin up in 1st in the wet!!!. A smooth map probably helps but they have brilliant grip in the dry for a rain tyre. My mate runs a corsa b up santa pod and it runs 12.1 on these tyres!!!!

Pirelli P-Zero Nero. Had them on my Mk4 Cupra 20VT and they were awesome!
I've had Toyo T1R's, Kumho's etc and nothing compares to the Pirelli P-Zero's!

Worth the money!

Parada Spec 2 for me. Awesome dry tyre with loads of grip for a tyre that lasts so long.

Wet roads or track is a different story tho.

I had toyo t1rs i found them great in the dry but poor in the wet i went through 2 sets in no time at all.
Im now on p-zeros and i dont think id look for another tyre they are a good all rounder for me any way

thanks for the replys, ive heard good things about verdstine, but i dont like the look of there tread haha call me weird.

im thinking just keep the Nero's or maybe try the prada's,
has anyone tryed the Nero's on a track day?

i had tryed to get some rainsports, i figured that the lovely scottish weather would be a good test for them.. but i could not get a hold of them at the time,
any other suggestions? i read in another thread about contisports? are these the contisport contacts?

+1 on the uni's, the only problem for me is having a tdi does tend to wear them down a bit quicker, especially the way I drive lol.

I will just add my bit for you aswell. I have used goodyear eagle f1s. they were brilliant.
prada spec 2's were ok. Quite a lot of wheel spin with these and very scary in the wet. currently running p zero nero and these are the best allrounder i have used yet.
I am running A and B roads all the time so my tyres get a good working.

I love my "Goodyear F1 GSD" , way better then T1R on both wet and dry. Both tires where 205/40 17

For track I run R888 witch is in another league.
