please explain

there is a rear brace in the LCR, you can find it on the floor of the boot just behind rear passengers seats

I doubt another one put 50cm higher would change anything...

I will post up any and all info and pics as soon as I get it - not received anything yet from Mike, he is still finalising the production version.

I will be 100% honest and if I feel no difference or I think it's rubbish, I will say so, I am not working with Mike to make money, I have done all the dev. work with him for nothing.

Here's a pic of test fitting one in an Octavia vRS - note how the vRS does have extra factory bracing in the boot - but even so the Octy owners are reporting back positive results from adding the brace, back end is far less skittish under hard cornering, feels more planted.

A high brace in the boot should work well and definately help.

There is a school of thought that you should have the rear seat belts fastened so that any heavy loads carried in the boot do not crash throught into the passenger compartment in the case of an accident. It could be said that this bar is not a strut brace for improved handling but a safety feature to stop potential injury from the above senario. This is just a thought when you are explaining all the extra pieces of metal bracing your car together to the nice insurance man.

Finally ... I now have the first prototype rear brace from Mike, this is just a very rough sample to see if it fits and see if it works.

Still alot of work to do, but it is fitted with no drilling, and after an initial test drive today I am certain I can feel a difference, I threw my car around a few bends and roundabouts and went down some rough roads, the whole back end of the car just felt alot more like one whole chunk of car, felt good, the brace sat solid and didn't move or pop out, you can't move it with your hand it is rock solid. I will continue to work with Mike and test it, I have trackday on the 12th of March which will be the acid test, might even do some laps with and some without it to feel the difference.

More soon.

This will help for sure, running around with no carpet or parcel shelf in my car with this brace fitted, there were no creaks at all - felt very quiet, smooth and solid. Once Mike is happy with the feedback I'm giving him, he is sending me V2 of the brace. If all goes to plan the production versions will appear after that, maybe in about a months time.
