hi all . ive got a ibiza sport 1.4 05 reg and it seems to have a flat spot in 1st gear its very hesitant to pull away at a slow speed or from parked postion. ive taken it back to the dealer once as its under the warrenty , but they didnt find anything wrong, im taking it again next week and hope they can resolve the problem. has anyone else had this problem ? is it a common problem with this model ? i think its dangerous personally and if it cant be sorted im thinking of replacing the car.

Ot could be a number of things.... When was it last serviced? To me if its not pulling away then its not burning properly, this could be dirty/old spark plugs, it could also be a faulty coil pack... also does this only happen when the car is cold? Could the brakes be binding - do you notice a rubbing noise from the rear or front brakes...
That's all I can think of for now, maybe someone else will come along some other ideas.

it had a service about 10 months ago from the dealer when i brought it, the brakes dont seem to be rubbing. it does it wether the car is hot or cold , ive been told it could b that the throttle cable needs replacing maybe? as i said its hesitant when it pulls away it either nearly stalls or you have to over rev it to get it to move quickly. thanks for your help

The fuel filter could be dirty and need replacing, if dirty fuel or contaminated fuel it getting to the engine then it will give it stall like symptoms, also as far as I know the ibiza is a "fly by wire" throttle system meaning doesn't have a physical throttle cable, it's driving by an electrical signal... this may mean the problem lies with the pedal and sensor on that.
Does it appear to have "throttle lag" at any other point when you are driving it? I know the 1.4 can feel like a lazy engine anyways....

just at low revs really. does your car seem very slugish to pull away ? and do u really have to work the clutch to pull away ? by that i mean pushing it up and down severak times to pull away nicely. just trying to find out if it is a common problem with thm or if its just an issue with mine.

Mine is pretty nippy to pull away... but I have a 1.2 totally different kettle of fish... personally I think the 1.2 and the 1.4 lack torque in the low revs anyway... maybe you have a clutch issue by the sounds of things rather than an engine issue... does the clutch slip whilst driving? Is it also sticky to select a gear at times? What's the millage on the car?
