The other day I attempted to fit my forge short shifter. However, I have two problems that are still unresolved:

1) I can't get the original shift off. The instructions say undo the 13mm nut and chock up the shift and tap on the top off the nut to undo the shift from the spline. I wish it was that easy!! Any ideas...?

2) When removing the cable circlip I dropped the circlip into the engine bay so now the connector is atached to the shift but not secured. Is this a problem? I guess I will have to order one from seat.

WD40 & a light tap with a light hammer will see it some off

can you not find the circlip? You'll want it when you can no longer change gear... it'll be ok until it's not if that makes sense

Damo, i just choced my shifter up with a large socket, sprayed it with WD40 and gently persuaded it off with a large hammer and some careful hits (they dont let me use a hammer at work :( ) and it did come off eventually, took some persuading and a little persistance but it does come off, and before you mess about with the adjuster thing like i did, just go straight for the shortest setting, i think it is just right, and makes the whole driving experiece a bit nicer imo.

Cheers smooth sounds like everybody has a bit of trouble removing it. I'm not beat yet!! I was going to put it straight on to shortest setting yes as I've heard there's not much difference on longest setting.

Fingers crossed it will be off sooner rather than later...

good luck mate, it is worth the agro, it took me about half hour all up to fit mine, but it is a quality bit of kit. :) well worth it.
