Hiya,

I've run the diagnostics, and its coming up with:

Component and/or Version: AUTOCLIMA-220 X06.00
Software Coding
Work Shop Code:
1 Fault Found:
00658 - Control Head – (also known as the operating module?)
49-00 - No Communications

now where on earth do I find one of these? or can I? every scrapyard/garage I ring up seem to know nothing about this unit and keep referring me back to the head unit on the stereo!

any help/advice greatly appreciated.

Thats an error code reffering to the diagnostic system having some sort of issue that isn't within it's programmed parameters mind, it's not a clear cut this is screwed- replace it routine mind (like some dealers) after all you wouldn't expect the ecu to tell you wing is bent would ya ? :)

49-00 - No Communications - is something isn't talking to the ecu as to why it could be connector/wiring/power/fuse/melted anything

AutoClima would suggest the heater panel/control unit possibly

what issues are you having with the car and if you clear the code what happens ?

Hiya,

the main issue is that the display went on the dash. this also meant that I couldn't turn off the air con or increase/decrease the fan speed, switch on the radio, etc.

when i carried out the first scan, after turning the car over I noticed that the radio sprang into life. so I ran another scan, it now comes up with this:

Address 08: Auto HVAC
Controller: 6K0 959 291
Component: AUTOCLIMA-220 X06.00
3 Faults Found:
00779 - Outside Air Temp Sensor (G17)
30-00 - Open or Short to B+
00532 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
07-00 - Please Register/Activate
00658 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
49-10 - Please Register/Activate - Intermittent

unfortunately as i don't have the full version I can't find out exactly what's gone on here. I don't know how to clear the codes either. Sorry, I'm being a bit useless with this!
I think its a loose wire but I haven't the foggiest on how to get to the wires through the dash. the only screw points I can see are in the glove compartment and either side of the dash itself.
any help gratefully appreciated.

Windle.

If you are not familiar with vehicle electronics, nor have access to factory repair manual and wiring diagram or a fully licensed VAG-COM/VCDS, the best option you have is to hand this over to somebody who has those tools and skills to fix the problem. :)

Not trying to be a smartass here, but sometimes that is the best you can do.
