The brakes on my fr+ 2005 feel a little soft and the pedal isnt very hard at all,i have stripped and cleaned the brakes and had the brake fluid changed yesterday and it has made no difference.
whats are other people standard brakes like how does the pedal feel?
what else could there be left thats faulty?
Anyway of checking the Master Cylinder

the brakes are crap.
mine feel numb when braking hard, it does shrug off the speed but it doesn't feel very inspiring.

Save up for a porsche 4pot upgrade £500 odd for the calipers then £90 per disc

hmm i may have a look at that myself this weekend, my brakes went from being nice a sharp when i got it to more spongy overnight so will have a look at the when the light is better

hope it might explain the sudden change in the brakes for me

top right og the engine bay as you look at it just under the engine cover and the air filter pipe that goes to the engine,it conmes off the back of the manifold, via a rubber hose then onto a 90 degree plastic elbow mine was loose on that elbow, taped it up and its made it a lot better, going to order a new one today.

if theres no sign of any cracks take a lok at this elbow and see if theres a slight gap where theres a rubber grommet and the pipe locates into, there was a gap with mine, check how yours is,is it tight fit?or slack also?
By the way does anyone ahve a Part no. for this pipe?

OMFG!:censored:

i get to work at 8:40am and decide to pop the bonnet open. I hear a hissing sound and sure enough it is coming from the said hose. its not cracked or split, but as rallynut says there is a slight gap. now theres not alot of space there so i tug a little.
the little ****** decided to pop off!

ok so its now 8:45AM and i think theres enough time to pop it back on.... due to the rubber grommet being so tight and lack of space its hard to do. then i end up dropping the rubber grommet in the engine bay!!! PANIC!! i try and take off the engine bay cover but end up snapping the rear part of it [:@]

i move the car (now with very hard brake pedal) but its not on the floor. stick my hand in feel around for 10mins and finally find it.

to get the pipe back together i had to remove the joint and attach it to the said hose first then slip it back onto the smaller hose.

time is now 9:30am and i've only just got it back to how it was before i ****** it up in the first place. i've wrapped it round with some tape to help the slight gap..

it is an awful design flaw. due to the way the hoses are bent there will always be tention on the joint so it will NEVER line up straight for a snug fit. :wtf:

sorry to bring this thread up again, but seems my brakes have gone spongy in the last year, carrying on from the above issue has anyone else had more problems with this hose?
I have replaced it last year and upon visula inspection it doesnt seem to be any cracks or hissing from this pipe that i can see?
pedal has gone quite long for my liking...

passenger side come out of the tandem pump you will see a rubber hose that goes inot a plastice hose with a 90 degreee elbow then goesa along the firewall to the servo

Just gona subscribe to this. Had my MOT couple months ago, its got Brembo discs and red stuff pads so it aced the brake efficiency test. But they noticed on idle you pump the brakes but it doesnt get hard - id never done this so never noticed!
Anywho, they said it was a leaky nipple on the brake master cylinder so I got the car back and was just so relieved it had passed the MOT and straight onto Silverstone I forgot to even check it!!

Of course when I did, its exactly the same as mentioned above! Ill have a look at that other thread later but I was wondering if it was a leaky vac pipe................ & I too had hissing but only when I let go of the pedal, which leads me to think its not the servo (ie servo is hissing with brake depressed) but NOW, theres no hissing at all, just the spongey feel but still brakes very well!!

Humph! Im putting on all braided hoses, perhaps I can upgrade all vac stylee pipes too??

Where Lee when you need him ;)
