Fuel Economy and Issues with Leon FR TDI

Hello People,

I'm new to this forum, but not new to the forums.

Had various cars in my time....

  • Saxo Furio, VTR and VTS x2
  • Ford Focus 2.0 ESP
  • Peugeot 307 HDI
  • Current Car: Skoda Octavia vRS

I do now want a Seat Leon Cupra FR TDI though and wondering if you guys can help me!

What kind of mileage do you achieve on a full tank?
Average MPG around town, motorways etc?
What issues should I look out on them?

I travel 20k a year so car needs to be good on fuel and reliable.

Cheers,
Luke

If your vRS is a tdi, it'll be roughly the same.
Are you after facelift or pre-facelift?
A quick search will bring up DPF issues on the pre-facelift cars, newer ones don't suffer from it.
I've had pre-facelift and facelift, I could easily achieve over 50mpg driving steady in the newer one.

No such thing as a Cupra FR TDI. I assume you mean a 2006 onwards MK2 Leon FR TDI 170? If you can afford to get a facelift one (2009 onwards) I would recamend that you do. The facelift ones have the CR170 engine that is wayyyyyyy better than the older PD170 engine.

Nath, what's in the Exeo you've got? :)

The engine is a CR170 (standard at the moment) It's the top of the range SE Lux so it has almost all of the goodies :D

@ SeanCorky, It goes really well (just a little bit slower than the Standard Leon (at the moment) and does way better MPG than the Leon. The power is much more useable not all or nothing like the PD.

The 140 Sport tempts me due to less cost, still look good but less issues!

Sounds like a plan. If you get one with a few options on it and a remap it will be just as good as an FR and faster with no DPF issues. Just the bumpers and brakes let it down then.

I've got a 10 plate fr fl and if I do 80 all the way on the motorway I'll get around 50/52mpg, if I do 70mpg I'll get 56/59mpg..

Normally I get around 500 to the tank doing 80 and 600 to a push when doing 70

Going from a diesel to a petrol FR because of **** fuel economy isnt the brightest idea ive ever heard. You do realise the FR DSG petrol will be even worse on petrol than your current PD170?

Yeah but it'll be £1.10 cheaper per tank to fill up

Although you'll fill up the petrol 3 times for the 2 of the diesel
