Just curious to see if any others had had problems with their fuel gague in the car. I went out yesterday turned ignition round yellow light (for low fuel) went out but the fuel needle stuck on empty with me knowing I had a good 3/4 of a tank in the car  So tried again, turned car off completly and took keys out, in again turned on and again the needle stayed on empty

So then though maybe a fuse had gone but all other needles were working so is this independant? Also went to my fuel cap, re-opened it and shut it and tried again, this time the needle worked upto 3/4 and I've had no problem with it since?? So any ideas what the problem was, maybe a one off? Does the fuel release or the filler cap have any sensor that could be affected on?

Just curious so if it does happen again I'll know what I should be looking for to solve the problem before I do run out of fuel!

I've had a few problems with the guage. Normally when I fill it up the needle sticks at full for ages. After I've used petrol and got to about 1/4 full the needle suddenly moves to empty...You get used to it!

Know what you mean about that, mine does the same but problem the other day was the needle would not work at all and showed zero with a good 3/4 tank in the car. Not happened since then though so fingers crossed.

Could have been a bit of crap stuck in the sender or something. The same happened on my parent's Focus (i.e. registered empty when it was full) but it only did it a couple of times and never again.

The inaccuracy of the gauge does annoy me a bit. I pressume there's nothing that can be done about it, fit a new sender or anything?

I've got the same problem on my Ibiza Mk4. There is another similar thread in hte Ibiza Mk2 section as well. Probably worth checking out the Mk2 thread as it's A LOT more active
