Geabox code advice please?

My gearbox has apparently fallen to pieces, a common ish fault on them ive been told.

I currently have a ERT coded gearbox, ive found a replacement which is meant to be compatible, its a DDU, does anyone know if the boxes should work ok in my car? Im assuming its just the the ratios are a bit out or something?


If I got a DDU unit of a VW is it likely to be the same box?

You will find that the gearboxes are the same
The 5 speed boxes are classed as 02J and the 6 speed boxes are classed as 02M

Fantastic.

I have a breakers offer me a cupra box, 6 gears would be cool but id imagine the ratios would be mental for a 1.6. They only checked Seats though so Ill try for just a VW DDU box and see what they come up with.

Yes all VAG gearboxes are the same
Early 5 speeds are different to the later ones though

Again any info or help would be gratefully recieved,

Ive been offered a gearbox from a new style Leon, im presuming this will be a different style but I thought Id ask just incase, if its of a 1.6 should it fit?

I have a feeling they wont be helpful...

Im sure it wont fit but would have been nice if it did
