Anyone else had as title. Had a nice momo gear knob for a year or so and the gaiter is about an half a n inch too short. Want a replacement as it looks very tacky it meets the gear knob only just and it taught and looks cack! Was even considering making my own as looking at the standard one it is just stapled on!

Aimez, there is a black plastic clip that fixes the gaiter to the gear knob. From the factory the fake leather is wraped over this clip from the top and folded all the way under.

When I fitted my allu Seat Sport knob I spent ages getting this fold/tuck just so. When I PX'd the Ibiza I fitted the old knob back on and just clipped the gaiter on the simple and quick way with no fancy fold. This made the fake leather quite loose (maybe by 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch.

Give it a go, I reckon there is at least that much folded up under the black knob clip thinky.

This is starting to sound like a foreskin problem so I will stop now.......................

Mine broke when I was taking it off, just used a cable tie instead, worked a treat.

Are you saying you had a non seat gear knob back on when you sold the car then?

Cos obviously the Seat ones are designed for the gaiter. I must silly then as I couldn't figure out a way to make it fit! I tried to sort it when I fitted it and have left it for well over a year but trying to sort out niggles and this is one. I have tried a cable tie but it falls back again and also I think kidinspace yours is a taller gear knob than my Momo one as I can see the gaiter is not stretched like in my car as the standard one is a inch or more taller.
I wanted to buy a new gaiter but have no idea what one will fit either.

My gaitor is actually too long as when I fitted the gear knob, as the shaft went further up the gear knob, so I had to fold my gaitor down more than it was before, hence the need for a cable tie as it then became too thick for the original clip.

sorry to slightly hijack aimez, kidinspace - where did you get your gear knob from? Very nice!

Tis a bit of a beast I know, I bought it from ScottHmk4 on here for £35 via Ebay, I believe it's for a MK5 Ibiza, maybe something else in the range. I like it cos it is quite big and is easy to hold, however since I drive a 1.2 I'm sure it actually slowing me down!

Edit:- Just read this back, could this have anymore innuendo's in this! "the shaft went further up the gear knob" and "cos it is quite big and is easy to hold"
