Getting a LCR onto home ramps

As above,
Has anyone bought the ramps you get from Halfords/Screwfix direct and managed to get you LCR onto it
Just looking just now at buying a set but don't want to find out that splitter won't allow car to get onto it
I could remove the splitter before going up but would perfer not to have to do this every time

I havn't used these particular ramps but know from experience that if you have a low car you may have problems.
I use two small tapered blocks of wood in front of the ramps to raise the car enough to clear the first rung, this works ok on my LC & a very low RS Turbo I had previously as well.

I used the following technique IIRC

Drive LCR onto a piece of scrap timber to get trolley jack under without removing side covers.

Jack up on trolley jack as high as it goes, lower onto ramps, remove trolley jack

I got a normal seat on to some metal ramp things.. and usually I use a peice of wood to help them get on else the bumper hits it a lil. Had to do this for my escort and my vectra and my m8s rover 400 something.

I would guess it is impossible to get a lowered car on them

U would have been better getting those "red axel stands"?? the proper ones

i have the halfords ramps and you def cannot drive the lcr on to them. i can get the car on to my dads ramps however as many years ago he put together a simple ramp extension consisting of a long piece of timber with metal hooks at the end that hook near the top of the ramps. i would say the timber is about 6 feet long and i just drive straight up it.

Yup that sounds a good solution
Perhaps axel stand is a better way to go though

I have a pair of long solid wood ramps with a shallow-enough slope to get the car on.

That would do to get onto the ramps also
As I'm fitting an FMIC I could take the bumper off first
Would have to remember not to fit bumper before coming off though

No point. If I need the car higher, trolley jack goes in easily and use axle stands.

I was looking at getting some ramps a while ago, but the ones I've seen only accomodate a wheel width between 6" - 8"

Found these restoration ramps which actually look really good, but a) got nowhere to put them, and b) how much?!?!

it doesnt really matter too much if the wheels are a bit wide for the ramps, so long as you go up carefully and get someone to guide you on its fine.

Ah, cool While I was searching, I found a set of "low profile" ramps which were 10" wide and had a photo of a pretty low Dodge Viper driving up them... I think they were some kind of comopsite or resin material, looked pretty good... didn't save the link though I think it was on Amazon.com (price was in $)

Try screw fix, their ones are 215mm wide by 205mm high
I've just ordered a trolley jack for 2T and axel stands for 2T with chocks all for £27.00 inc VAT
