Going at easter & taking our Leon.

New pads going on, that is all.

and a hi-vis jacket in the door pocket :D

Just DON'T do what my wife's colleague did last year, and check your oil in the morning, leave the filler cap off, the get oil pressure warning light only to find your cap has gone AWOL and your engine has been oil painting your bonnet. Expensive mistake!

Im off in a few weeks also Danny, see you on the ferry. Ha. I'm taking my Cupra over completely standard. Apart from a new pair of Eagle F1's. But i'm only going for the experience. Fancy giving me a passenger lap?

I am there 2nd April - 5th April; getting the 6am ferry out there, and 2pm ferry back; if you are there in that time you are more than welcome to jump in for a lap :)

Ah ha.. this all makes sense now!! Clacket lane is going to be a ball ache! Nothing like a meth powered blat down to Dover to wake me up :D

I can't wait to go this year, I was there in the rain last year on my Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas like Danny, they were awesome, I even passed a pimped out scooby :D

Back on topic - You don't need half of the mods you list on pg1, and as M0rk points out, changing the way the car handles from what you are used to may not be a great idea. So with that in mind if you are still planning to make a few changes I would recommend the obligatory brake pads and fluid - but i'd also like to point out a mod i didnt see on your list - a rear ARB (or if you're feeling plush, a pair). I got a rear one in January and it has transformed the car completely. I recommend the 28mm Neuspeed badmofo highly.

Other than that I suggest you spend the rest of your money on beer and steak - go to the Pistenklausse in Nurburg and get a steak, you will love me for telling you this, best 20 euros I ever spent.

Ah yes, Steak served on a slab of slate! It's a great place to go to boast about the days antics over beer. Highly recommended and you might even bump into Sabine.

Nurburgring is not like any other track and you'll never learn it enough to go balls out over one weekend but as everyone has already said, brakes and tyres are all you need to concentrate on. Oh, and take a spare MAF and the odd coil pack to be on the safe side. The last thing you want is for the weekend to be ruined by spending it running around the Eifel mountains trying to find spare parts!

Robert I see your running 18" TD pro race's is the 18" the better option, from what I've read in terms of handling 17" might suit better, the way the roads are round my way Im liking the idea of 17" rather than 18" but 18" would and do look better?

Yes, I have 18s and I was in a dilemma over these or 17s when I bought them, but with Brembos on the front there aren't many 17s that will fit and I couldn't get anyone to confirm whether the TDs would or would not fit.
A 17 with a good tyre with a firm tyre wall would definately be a good setup.

Hi Everyone, Im going on a little cruise to the nurburgring in september with a mate in his toyota Celica and my Cupra.

I have a few mods planned to get done before we go.

At present its an 03 Cupra 180 with a Cat back Milltek, Forge 007, Uprated panel filter.

Ive done a few minor cosmetic mods but these arnt important for this post.

I plan to have fitted before we touch down on the ring, Milltek 3" downpipe, De Cat, Uprated brakes (Bigger or more efficient EBC???) KW coilovers, Strut braces front upper and lower and rear upper, 17"/18" Team dynamics wheels with Toyo R888, Revo Map, FMIC, Boost and Oil Temp Guages.

Plus more stuff to make sure its in good condition before the trip Oil, Plugs ect ect

Im in no way going to proper wang it round i know the limits of a car and wont blow it up for the sake of going round a track, its just the experience of being there plus the Nurburg recovery truck charges are mental!

What are the key things do i need to get right for tip top handling?

Any pointers on tracking your car well recieved! and any people that want to tag along welcome!!!:D

Hi mate. :)

Great to hear you are looking forward to your adventure to the Nurburgring, bet you'll have an awesome time. :D

As a racer myself I would advise that you do a coolant change and put Millers Extra Cool Coolant in before you go out on track as your standard coolant will fail and boil up as you'll be running at much higher temp when your out on circuit that if you were on the road. Another thing I would advise you to change is you brake fluid. This again will be running at much higher temp around the circuit especially on a track such as the Nurburgring where you are heavy on the brakes, so your brake fluid will be running at much higher temp than if you were on the road on a normal day. If you don't do this you could find that your brakes would fail at high speed and pedal would go flat to the floor as your fluid would of boiled over. so change that I would suggest. One other thing is race pads, standard road pads will just wear like sand so get some good EBC or race pads to last you for the duration of the circuit time.

When I get my cupra R next year I want to do mods to it and also take it around Spa in Belguim and also Nurburgring. :D CAN'T WAIT!!!!

The only other thing I have to say is to have a fab time, don't crash and have a safe journey to and from Germany my friend. :D Take it easy bud!!!!

Let me know how it goes. msn is [email protected] if you want to add me by the way.

This happenend to me 4 years ago at Brands Hatch. 100mph into Paddock Hill Bend was not funny and I very nearly kissed the LCR goodbye!

Jesus I bet your heart was in ur mouth and it was a close shave, and headed back to the pits to get your pulse rate back to normal. lol

I went over last summer in my lcr,and i found that the standard tyres were the weak point (toyo t1r`s) and there was a bit too much body roll.Id only done the re-map and exhaust combo then,so the rest of the car was standard.Id got previous knowledge of the track,so try and learn on ps3 or xbox,as it helps alot. For this summers trip, ive got more power, hopefully r888`s,and some beefy rollbars!! The main thing is have fun,and stay out of the barriers!!
