Getting Close....

hi guys,

Right, seems i'm getting my redundency money on the 23rd December (instead of mid January) so only 2 weeks before i can lay my hands on a car!
i've finally decided after much thought, to go for the 150bhp TDI Leon. Got my eyes on a couple, just hoping at least one of them is still for sale in 2 weeks.

Now i do have question for you tech heads : Regarding coilpacks (this is for my girlfriend's car, she's having issues with!).
When a coilpack goes, or is on the way out, what are the symptom's?

She had an EGR valve error come up on her corsa, the car drives fine, then sometimes "pauses" with accelaration (its very noticeable, no acceleration at all). Got the EGR valve fixed, but its started to do it again. Only seems to do it when the car is warmed up, and its started doing it more often. I've read on another forum it might be to do with the coilpack, or maybe the MAF sensor?

I know this isn't a Seat issue, but as coilpacks seem to go quite often on the LCR's, i thought i'd ask for opinions!

Sorry for the wall of text.......

Hasn't stalled yet, but it just bogs down for a few seconds then suddenly starts to pull like normal (so you get a kind of turbo boost effect).

EGR was replaced as the only ECU management light said faulty EGR valve, but its still doing it.
its not like its every time we pull away, seems very random, and only when the car is warmed up. Pulls away like normal when cold.

Car starts ok. Idle's ok then occasionally it kind of stutters for 2-3 ticks then runs find again.

I'd get it code read again, the CSPS will show up on that if it is that. Doesn't sound like coilpack, that's normally accomapnied with a burny smell, limp mode and running on 3 cylinders...or 2 if she has a 1.0 12v.

its a 1.6 16v GSI (N reg).

yeah we'll get it in, just the cost really. Most garages down here charge £30 to get a code looked at.

Hoping the car will limp to the 23rd and then i can 1) afford to maybe get it fixed, 2) get a TDI Leon
