So it’s getting nearer the time finally to get my car,4 months and counting.

‘Anyway I was set on getting Ghost until someone posted about having issues, especially with keyless entry.

something about it not accepting the code properly because of fact you don’t put the key in ignition

so a few questions

1.Reviews pro/cons

2.Anyone with keyless have same issue

3.Any issues

Yer I never heard a bad word until the one post

He did mention it was keyless in a focus so maybe it was a ford thing.

Do you have to press the ignition button first or do you do the code as soon as your in the car and then press the ignition key as you normally would to start car.

the person mentioned he kept getting confused if the ignition was on or not and having to do the code multiple times because it always messed up

Found the post below is what he said

,,, if you locked it on the key and unlocked it using keyless entry it wouldn't start, and vice versa. I.e. you have to lock and unlock it the same way, whereas I would lock on the key, unlock keylessly. Once in the car, it was press start button (pressing nothing else, like brake), put in the sequence, wait for indicators to flash (which took a variable amount of time for the indicators to flash then start it, but due to the variance you were never sure if you had put the sequence in properly. ‘’

Yeah I have to press ignition before entering the code. I usually let the car do the needle sweep before entering the code, and by the time I’ve entered it and pressed the clutch and brake to start the car, the indicator flash has happened and the car starts when pressing the start button.

The only bad thing with ghost is that there are no quick getaways!

I don’t think I’ve ever locked and unlocked using different methods. I’ll try it and let you know.

Had ghost on my fiesta st and i sometimes had to enter the pin 2 or 3 times before the indicators flashed, i spoke to 2 different installers and they said this is normal, something to do with the modules in ford not loading fast enough before you enter the pi so it doesnt register,

Got ghost on my cupra lux 2019 and works 1st time, never had a problem with it, i usually lock the car with the key then put my finger on the door handle to disable kessy, the car can then only be unlocked using the remote and ive not had any problems with doing that :)

Anyone use ghost with fob?
https://www.trackingmycar.co.uk/product/autowatch-ghost-adr-key-immobiliser/
Looks easier to use if i start the car 10xtimes a day.or normal ghost protect somehow from carjacking?

Alot of people will keep that fob on the same keyring that has the car key on which would make it pointless if someone broke into your house and stole the keys which is how every stolen cupra i have seen has been stolen, yet to see one thats had the keys scanned and stolen that way

House secured a bit but if they get in the that way as they did many times around solihull normal ghost not save us unfortunately.so good delayed fob can be user safer.or i seen Bluetooth fob work 5meter and let the car run for another minute or so.

Why have they introduced a fob

the point is using the cars buttons so no one can get in.

I read they have an app that works like a fob but then I questioned how this is different from keyless in that if my phone is by the car I.e above drive way front of house it would open the car and allow it to be driven off ! Pointless

I am getting ghost but purely the car contrOl code Version as how can they steal it unless they get in my house and force me to tell
Them and that’s if they know about ghost. They May give up or think it’s broke

Fitting Ghost does give piece of mind and to all intents and purposes is a great deterrent, and would prevent the vast majority of would be perpetrators - professional thieves or joyriders, but..................no security device will make a car 100% theft proof.

Not a car with Ghost fitted, but there was an instance over on the Fiesta ST forum in the last year where a forum member had their car stolen - quite common with the previous generation Fiesta ST as the standard security isn’t great. The owner had taken pretty good additional precautions to prevent their car being driven off - Disklok fitted, dummy OBD port fitted and real OBD port moved and hidden to prevent key cloning - key cloning is the usual way of stealing these cars. Car was parked just outside the owners home by the window, so a good chance of the owner hearing any attempted theft.

Owner went to the car the next morning and it had gone. Police said that it was highly likely the car was jacked up and some form of wheeled trollies slid under the wheels, the car towed away and when a safe distance from the owner’s home, loaded onto a flatbed lorry.

A bit of an extreme case? Possibly. Would Autowatch Ghost have stopped the car being stolen? Maybe, but probably not with the method used by the perpetrators. It goes to show the lengths that some lowlife’s will go to if they’re determined enough though.

My drive limestone and front fence fitted with post later will be electric slide gate.dont think they can remove the car without start the engine or push(2-3 people) and open the post.most case easy to steal as people living rented poorly secured houses.my bigger issue the no brain knife carjacker and very common around.Tracker fitted all our cars but better if cant drive more than a mile away.
