Hi All I only joined the other day after buying myself a Leon Fr on Saturday and also an Ateca in august, however I am Hoping someone could help me.just had to be recovered with my 17 plate Ateca as the glow plug light came on , driver assist disabled and the stop and start disabled.

I got the car home however when I went to start it up again the battery was dead.

The Recovery guy came out and said the battery had 12 volts, plugged it in and the car had no faults showing. The car is all up and running now but has anyone els had this happen? I have only had the car 2 months so it still has a warranty

Cheers

Feels like it needs a dealers diagnostics. Once had two sets of weird electrical problems with an Altea. One where it was completely dead. There was power but wouldn't turn the engine. Was a Sunday. By Monday it cured itself... might even have been Sunday night. Another incident some years later head lights came on without turning the switch. Again fixed itself. Dealer said electrical boxes do have issues (sort of a central switching box). They didn't find anything. Dampness I reckon in both incidents, dried out and fixed itself.

Ateca has been fine thou, no issues in 4 years.

Now I'd run an Obdeleven check, whether it would find those type of things not sure.

Re-reading. Stop start not working will have been turned off by the system thinking the battery was low. Glow plug may be. Driver assist water in the sensor may be. Sounds to me like dampness.

I'd get your dealer to check it although if nothing is showing difficult to check. That's what happened to my lights being on all the time for a couple of days when ignition was on. Fixed itself. The dealer wanted to charge for diagnostics so I didn't bother. The issue never returned. The first issue with the dead start up, I did succeed in getting the warning airbag light on by pulling fuses in the engine compartment looking for a blown fuse (never random pull uses in the engine bay if you dont know what they are is the one I learnt from that). Dealer reset that but found nothing else. Issue never came back. Subsequent I did wonder whether immobilization had been triggered and it timed out fixing itself.

I think you got a tricky one to diagnose but the dealer ought to run diagnostics on it or you do it yourself with VCDS... saying that as you said Recovery never found anything.

Thanks for getting back to me Tell appreciate it, I went to start the car up yesterday morning and battery was flat as a pan cake again so I have just dropped it off at the Seat dealer in carlisle today to be checked over on Monday.

Once the battery was charged I was able to start it up 3 or 4 times with no issues.

The Ateca is our main family car and has been great so far we love it so fingers crossed it is an easy fix. It seems to me something is killing the battery.

I have enjoyed a morning playing about with my Leon instead ?

Report back what they find so we can learn.
So I had a call off the Seat dealer yesterday and they couldn’t find the problem however they suspected it was the battery but had to carry out a few tests over night on the battery before they could confirm.
I got a phone call today saying they could confirm it was the battery but this wasn’t covered under my warranty and I would have to contact the dealer I bought the car from as i only bought it 2 months ago and the total price was £330 including diagnosing.
So at the minute the dealer I bought the Ateca from have agreed to half the costs with me but I am yet to pick her up, hoping this solves the problem

I hope that sorts it out. You do hear of people's batteries failing early due to stop start. I have mine rigged via VCDS to disable SS, battery still fine after 4 years so isn't taxed by SS. Was considering changing it to be on the safe side based on age of battery (preventative maintenance) but think I will leave it.

I have had the car back 2 days now with no issues so far, starts perfect every time ??
