Ill do some pics later

Todays bit of buggering about... right with the rear beam axle being set how it is.
After watching a few videos. I knew things existed. But it was finding them and finding out measurements. So I found these
20251005_170806.jpg

They are rear stub shims. But for a clio 172/182 sadly the bottom 2 holes are the same pcd as a leon. But as normal the vag units dont have a set pcd. They run on 2 different
20251005_171254.jpg

So the top 2 dont line up. . So a bit of marking and out with the grinder
20251005_171718.jpg
so only being held by the bottom 2 bolts. But its held and clamped so it should be ok🤞 so now I got or should have when build . +2.5° camber on the rears

Will only tell when I rebuild after the other modifications are done too.

Had dinner.. thought I could do some thing else.
So back to the workshop.
Grab the steering rack.
20251005_184302.jpg

I dont know how many people know that there is a rubber bush mounting the rack the the subfram. But only 1 end. I was looking in to a solid conversion from America. Every thing seams to be from America. But they was out of stock and unsure if they are going to restock . So
20251005_184531.jpg
next best option is powerflex black edition. So to start undo the 2 13mm nuts holding on the rigid pipe.
20251005_184435.jpg
Guessing if your doing this on the car i recon it would "flex " enough to get the u clamp off. Then take off the old bush.
20251005_184516.jpg
. I just took the pipe off for ease
20251005_184431.jpg

I may be replacing these with some braided hoses.
The new bush is pretty solids but does slide over the rack
20251005_184543.jpg
then slide the u clamp over and refit the pipe. I gave every thing a wire brush and brake cleaner . Then used 2 new stainless flanged nuts to hold
20251005_185232.jpg

Then put the rack back on the floor.... as I got no subfram at the moment.

Sadly being a bit quiet at work has given my brain time to swing in to race car mode.... its never good because it then costs me money. Any way came home got out a ruler and bit of measuring...
Then with out me knowing my phone ordered some parts from Mcgill motorsport.
Brilliant company have a look at the website.

any way this lot turned up. Left and right hand nuts and rose joints. Some tubes with left and right hand threads.. ..
So using some fixings from the workshop stock. I made a adjustable brace for the BYC wing
20251011_152449.jpg
thinking it will make it more sturdy and help with pushing the boot lid closed with the aero... cant say if it will help with holding the car to the track. But atleast the boot will stay closed 🤣

I feel it more looks than purpose

So couple months ago I ordered my FIA spec fire extinguisher. But I bought the fitting kit only. As the extinguishers need testing every year. I thought no point.
So i fitted the cradle. And the clamps where flapping about.
I bought some 125mm drainage tube and ends. And made some thing to hold the straps from banging about

Yep 100% correct, I replaced the steering rack bushing whilst it was still on the car. I replaced it with the purple bushing as it was a street car

I've had one for years and never used it because I was always told I had to drop the subframe to put it in. Don't want to hijack Manic's that to ask how you did it though!

Can't comment on the race car though as I've had to change my underwear three times already, and that was just looking at the last few posts...

I recon you can do it on the can just on do the 4 mounting bolts . 2 to release the clanp and the other 2 so you can lift the rack to get the bush out.
