as you can see the angel eye rings have dimples (almost makes them look like lots of LEDs) in them unlike yours and as a result the light from the 4 bulbs in each ring is dispersed all the way around the ring!

god knows why they didnt use the same rings in all of them?! as i know for a fact all of these headlamps are made in the same factory... my smoked ultra ones are identical to the original chrome ones i bought for about £160 on ebay!

for some reason the smoked ones are more money... i payed £220 from carnoisseur when they first came out in RHD (they retail at £240 i think!) on that ebay link they are £233.

so are they any different to wire them up? how did you get your headlamps adjusted?

nope all the head lamps are identical to wire up... they are identical lamps, just either ur rings or my rings for the angle eyes, and either smoked or chrome effect (but then theres LHD and RHD too! ;))

u adjust the light beams with the adjuster screws!

rolleyes: cheers anyway James I have been working hard for better results with the lights, in this I just mean changing the amber indicator bulbs for silver ones so it doesn’t look like a fried egg, when I first put tem in several hours later I was horrified to see the lenses getting misty:doh: following the bumper off gig see avatar it was all too much :-o but I took the rubber backs off the lights and let the ambient temp equalise :-o I ran the engine and put the lights on this got the lights warmed up. The only thing left to do was to wait until the damp air inside the lights was forced out and evaporated. Now they re absolutely splendid so glad I chose to put them in.

ive got my angel lights in smoked black.:p
i must say i hate the look of the way the ring forms via 4 w3w bulbs
per light.:banned:
before fitting mine i will crack it open, convert it to right hand drive:D ,
stick in some h1 xenons:D , rip those nasty w3w bulbs and bin em:D , and finally trick those halos to form the MOTHER OF ALL HALOS RINGS[B)] .
i'll keep you posted with pics

yes missting lights are a problem... tho it happens with the OEM head lamps too... common problem! :(

glad your happy with the look... but im very surprised you havnt said how crap they are at lighting up the road at night!

certainly no where near as good as the OEM lights! :(

this is why i HID mine!

i also have smoked ones (originally had the chrome ones).

i 100% agree about your comment re the angel eye rings and the 4 bulbs per ring...

luckily for me my smoked angel eyes came with the better "dimpled" rings which makes the light from the 4 side light bulbs in each ring travel around the whole ring so the ring lights up evenly as it should!...see post #24...

to be PERFECTLY honest... in hindsight i would not go to ALL THE HASSEL i went to to HID my angel eye projectors!

without HID the angel eye head lamps are simply utter crap at lighting up the road at night time! hence why i fitted a 6000k HID kit.

this brings the lights JUST ABOUT on par with the OEM head lamps.

and its a hell of a lot of hassel as to fit the HID bulbs you HAVE TO take the angel eye projects completely apart so you can drill the metal bulb holder bit bigger so you can fit the HID bulbs in place! you then have to put the lights back together (making sure you have 110% cleaned it out!) and re seal them (not easy!)

and to top off that hassell its a bumper off and on job to remove/fit the lights!

so why have i kept my HID projectors on my car if i say in hindsight i wouldnt do it again?!

because i think they look absolutely brillent and helps make my black LCR look more unique, and the HID through the projectors looks very cool as well (just like most BMW HID lights!)

in hindsight though i would have not spent £220 buying new RHD smoked angel eye projector head lamps and simply spent the £150 on the 6000k HID conversion i have and fitted that to the OEM headlamps!

this would make them exstremely good at lighting up the road... i would say about 25% better!

as for where i fitted my ballasts... one is cable tied to the washer bottle (its water proof! ;)) and the other is cable tied to metal work behind/below the passenger head lamp.

right... im off now, so wont be able to answer any more qu's untill next time! ;) ...
