Does anyone get problems with water coming in around the windows when it rains, whilst driving or is this while ther cars are parked (hence when you wash the car it leaks?)

Reason I ask is, from what I have read it sounds like it could be quite simple. There could be a possibility that on a few cars when put together the glass isnt quite aligned correctly in the mounts so when the window is fully (tight) shut it doesn't seal completely.

Remedy, take of door card, loosen glass mounts, ensure glass correctly located, re-tighten, re-fix door card and give the car a good hosing down.....does it still do it?

By the very nature that it is a few cars as to the majority, they are possibly Friday afternoon cars (can't be arsed, to late in the day, nearly time to go, and want to get home).

Would like to know more about this before my Leon FR arrives in June.

I think the water gets in through the rubbers at the bottom of the window or top of the main body of the door whichever way you look at it.

The rubbers are these funny round things and don't sit flush on the windows like my MK3 Ibiza's did.

Who knows.

Great that people have logged the leaks though.

Thanks Tam once again and to ZBoyd who I P'md about trying to do something like this.

Just posted my form today.

Mine's a '06 Toledo, exact same problem with NS front passenger window...so seems to affect not just Leons, but Alteas and Toledo too.

While Alteas and Toledos have identical front doors and windows, the Leon doors and windows are a different shape, so its not just the same component / design niggle that's at fault here, is it ?

Just an update guys as I know some of you are/were interested. (Sorry its delayed been busier than I thought.!)

24 people replied with valid information.

21 Leon Drivers
2 Toledo Drivers
1 Altea Driver

3 were built 2005
15 were built 2006
6 were built 2007

Of the above,
8 have contacted their dealer about the issue.
4 have contacted seat UK

1 dealer resolved the issue by making a modification inside the door to fix the water leaking under the driver's carpet & also has replaced the window seal etc on the drivers door. That dealer was Amethyst in Cheltenham.

I can only suggest that you at least all log your cars with the dealers for them to investigate the issue (especially after the rain we've had in the last couple of days!!)

This info will also be passed onto the relevant peeps as discussed.

wet windows

seat are currently processing a modified window seal for this fault so everyone
should be able to have the fix carried out at there local dealers soon

excellent news, mine dont happen everytime, but i know when it will as i open the door to a huge gush of water comming out from the drain hole.

I've just had a call from Seat customer services to say that there is no 'fix' available yet from Seat technical services, it is still down as a fault they are investigating.

I've been waiting since day 1 back in August, I guess I'm going to have to be more patient!

My car was in the Dealer today for a pressure sensor. I asked them to have a look at the seals, they told me it happened on all the Leons. Thanks to your great heads up I told them I knew that already but wanted to log the fault with them in case a cure did come out. They had a look at my seals (Passenger and Driver) and ordered 2 new ones.

Whether this will fix the fault remains to be seen but I will continue the ongoing mither!!!!

Thanks again for the original post (although I was too late to fill in the form)

I was told the same by my dealer when I complained about the paint[:@].They said it was condensation and not to worry about it:-o.I informed them my old MK1 Leon didn't suffer this problem, his reply was "Thats a suprise".Will be taking the car back in to log another paint fault [:@][:@]and ask if they can sort the windows also this Saturday.

Had mine in last two days for some work, miss in engine. dead speaker, wet windows. still have the miss, wet windows and speaker wasnt ordered!!! Tried to bluff me the "i have seen this on an ibiza/leon" line. said it not on all the window and only on drivers so there has to be a fault. I mentioned the forum, the logging of a form to Seat Uk from here and they said they would do up a report and see about replacing seals!

I got much the same response. Dealer has ordered new seals, and I'm waiting on their arrival. Interested to see if it fixes the problem?
