Happy with MPG

FR*Man1984

time for a MINI adventure
Was in England/Wales for two weeks, driving on some very good roads and managed to achieve 63.7mpg overall. (motorways, A roads & B roads mixture, more of the first two tho) I think for my car this is excellent, and was showing an average of 550-600 miles to a tank (BP Diesel). I know not to take this as gospel coming from my trip computer anyways, maybe mid-late 50's in real world, but thats a huge jump of 15mpg to my normal driving over here on the IOM. I was well impressed! Fuel over here also is going up and up, now at 103.9p per litre (diesel), was suprised to see it similar in England, as it's usually about 8-9p cheaper!

Thanks for looking, any comments welcome.

i managed 180 miles to tank of v power with octane booster last week. i did drive it like i stole it though, not bothered about fuel bill, thasts why an r32 golf is more economical hence the change lol

How depressing is that? I've been getting late 20's- early 30's in my FR! Although i've only had it a few weeks and have been playing a bit. And have only really done short journeys to work and back mainly. Looks like we need bigger wallets Chris!

thanks for your comments peeps! always interesting to hear what everyone is saying.
Absolutely love the car! the power & torque in 3rd gear! WOW Took a Merc SportCoupe 230k for Surprise, left him for dead! Lol.
By the way, the comparison, I pay 103.9 p per litre (standard) we don't have higher grade diesel over here! V-Power (petrol) works out at 4p more (105.9p) We don't have BP here, which is a shame as I think their fuel is hard to beat. I always fill up with this when in the UK otherwise on the IOM it's Shell for me (don't trust Total, makes my car spit and stutter lol)

yeah mate I'm crossing my fingers that it's just while ours are running in/seeing what they can do! Mine's a 5 min journey to work, but ya gotta drive it quick, otherwise no point buying a 1.8 turbo engine, eh!
Started to see bp petrol station a lot recently haha.

My trip tells me i'm doing 46.3mpg average. I've got a tdi 130 sport but no matter how i drive i don't seem to get higher than that. any tips? i don't floor it, well not all the time anyway

I feel your pain... I've got a PD 130 and I've never seen more than early 50's mpg on a long trip - even when I drive like I've got and old lady named Daisy in the back! :(

Is the only way to achieve such mpg's is by sticking at 56 mph in 6th for hours on end?? If so, I'd rather pay an extra couple of quid at the pumps and drive at 80 :D
