hmm.. i am pondering this.

as some of you know i caved and had my car put on the rollers at the rolling road day... expecting to just get a base line so i know what certain things i may do to it atcually have done to it..

had a rather unexpected result of a standard 130 SE Tdi coming back with 142bhp and 252 lbs ot torque... now most cars on the day were under reading.. so i have no idea what to think.

i will be logging my car on thursday i think... once i find out which blocks to log!

but yeahl.. anyway...

while lightbulb changing today i noticed that the right hand side of my bumper part of it has been cut away, this is apparently where the air intake is.

i am wondering if something may have been done..

maybe, maybe not.. was just wondering.. the RR reaults were probally a fluke.... but eh!
most probally not.. and the RR results probally were jys

I read the thread about the trip to Marlin. Sounds like the rollers needed calibrating. Most people were disappointed, but was this under-reading what they *felt* should be the reality or had they had truthful RR tests before to contradict the results on the day? Maybe some peoples egos give them more bhp until RRed.

Most car makers (VAG particularly) conservatively rate their vehicles.

If your car is taking more air into the MAF it will balance the air/fuel mixture by providing more fuel, so this may go some way to account for it but I really think your stock vehicle is that powerful.

how about finding somebody else who RRed a stock 130 sooty?

there was one person at the RR day who had a 130 soot machine which had had a dose of revo, came back 159bhp i think... either way who ever it was was dissapointed as revo had claimed to get 170 for them.. dont know of any one who has a stock one.

i need to find out what blocks i need to get the air intake things then i can see if there is any similarities..

tbh i am taking the results with a pinch of salt.. its a standard car as far as i am aware.. as far as my insurance company is concearned its 130, the log book says that and i was expecting a lower result.. not higher.

another thig with the fuel.. is that i can get VERY economic runs out of it, aveeraging way over 65mpg on motorway runs.

hell.. if any one knows the blocks... i would go out now.. as i cant sleep!

Georgie, all i can comment on is the drive back from the Kent meet last month.
Yours is 130TDi, mine is 110 TDi. You had a lot more pull on acceleration than mine!!!!!!!!!!

Did Eddie say anything whilst on your trip out? his was 150, then revo'd

It could be easy to lose 10bhp if something in your car is not quite right and the MAFs are prone to failure.

I think you probaby have more air going through your MAF. If your car is more economical on longer cruises (steady speed) it will be because you do have more power and efficiency on tap. If that is the case, booting it rally-stylee should see your fuel use go up higher than a stock version, although it'll always better a petrol. A mix of m-way and traffic stop-go stuff and booting it may make it balance out against a stock one.

I aven't played with VAG-COM, so cant help ya there.

when i boot it.. and drive like i stole it... the mpg will go as low as 20... and will stay there. (this is at undisclosed speeds mind you)

which i am sure for a diesel isnt all that great!!!!

i wonder .. the roads are clear... i should go out now!!

Yeah, sounds tinkered and running rich on air and fuel then. Get it checked out.

Undisclosed speeds?.....

All my silly speeds are achieved on an "airfield".... called M....erm, what was that number again?

the sad thing is...

i just went out for a run!!

now to get excel as i dont have any MS word type things on here

but impressed it got in to a 3 figure speed in 3rd... and pulled ever so niclly in 4th!

i think i will take it to maga 4 on thursday morning and ask them to prod it. they love me there... i am a pain in the ass as far as they are conceaned!

mork! your too good to me!!

spoke to mega 4 today and they said that its completly normal for a pd130 tdi thing to get between 140-145 on rollers. maybe thats some comfort for thoes who thought the rollers may be out!

Maybe not... just goes to show that some egos had more bhp than the car!!

This now means your poor 20mpg is just because of your lead foot.

georgie , get vag com and log blocks 3,7 and 11 , one group at a time , i think 11 is boost , most remaps adjust this , u should see 1.34 bar boost ( 2340m bar absolute as per vagcom) on a stock 130 , maybe a wee bit more
