when I fitted my HU I found that I had problems with it not going fully back in the slot as with the ipod lead etc there was not much room behind the HU

So I got a small hacksaw blade and carefully removed the thin black plastic strip that is directly behind the HU, this made loads of room for getting all the plugs in and routed correctly with no problems at all and by doing it I even got rid of a rattle too

no it's just a thin bit of black plastic, sort of part of the double din assembley

it's no thicker than your finger but the head unit buts up against it and just 1 cable in the way makes the HU not click in properly

takes 5 mins to cut it out but if you have small hands (unlike me) you can prob fiddle the cables out of the way OK

in mine with the bit of plastic removed I can remove and refit my HU in seconds with my eyes shut

i managed to feed the wires down the back neatly by removing the tray, fitting the hu snuggly and then putting the tray back in. Probably the quickest way without having to cut any plastic...

i have to say its all about loosing the slot and goin for the double din, and i duno if its just me but im a pioneer man :)

an avic-d3 :D set me back a fair chunk of money but totaly worth it :) picture above ^^^^^

very nice mate ...a shame you don't have climate control with the small screen as in the newer models  only reason y i didn't do with double din is that you cant hide it away from potential thieves

my hu fits in nicely with the dash illumination using it's dual colour zone scheme...can match any car's dash colours :funk:

same same, and mines a 57 plate.. but its only a 1.4 formula sport would have to have payed extra for it.. n wasn't up for that.. lol
