thinks... how easy is it to get to the inside of the lens cover? You can buy stuff to prevent/reduce condensation forming (sold for bike visors etc), has anyone tried using that?

Haven't tried it myself but I do need to get behind lens cover at some point to remove dead flies! and will drill the back covers while i'm at it.

You can't open the headlight units, some people have tried putting them in an oven to help get them apart but I don't think they had much success. As said above, drill holes, or use silica gell packs. It's just something thats always going to be there regardless of what is tried to remedy it.

dried mine out on the weekend using a hairdryer, took about 10-15mins each lamp because had to switch off the hairdryer every 5mins to cool it down stop it melting but was dry as a bone after. now got my silca gel pads selotaped to the inside of the cover to absorb any damp in air to stop it doing it again. so far so good and its been absulutly pi**ing down all week so far and now misting or wet in the lamp.

Just to illustrate my point, this is all the condensation I ever get now after drilling my covers at the back. it never gets any higher up or further round the lens than it is here, no matter how wet the weather is or how cold it gets.

Ours were worse than that (especially the offside) and small silica gel packs stuck inside the covers has cleared them.

Theres a few makes of car with this sort of problem out there due to (ncap rating) not using glass, use hair dryer, then drill holes, and selotape silca gel pads to inside of covers, will work for a while

Just go easy with the hairdryer - ours had the single headlamp with shields over the bulbs and the heat from the hairdryer distorted the "stalk" of metal that attaches them to the reflector.

I eased them back OK, but I was absolutely wetting myself in case they snapped off. :scary:

Hell yeah
go easy with the hairdryer use the low heat setting and dont get to close to the back of the light and keep switching the hairdryer of every few minutes and check the lights.take your time about 20 mins each light maybe less depends on how much condensation is in there

Yeah i had an MG ZR before my cupra, condensation seems miniscule after owning an MG :p but sounds like a plan, im going to try drilling some holes in mine.

Well know problem in France too.

Drill holes on the back cover as say above.
If you mount an HID kit, with the hole you need to drill on the back of the cover for the cable, it will do fine as well!

Do Seat have an official 'Fix' for this issue? I thought I'd ask before I drill any holes.

My headlamps misted up beautifully last week with all the rain!

SIMPLE, DRILL HOLES IN THE SIDE AND UNDERNEATH OF THE HEADLAMP REAR BLACK PLASTIC COVER. i did and all been fine ever since. why was i shouting lol ?

END OF THREAD LOL

depend on the dealership here.

Some will follow the main advice of Seat France and change the whole headlight (one of both depending on the problem)/
Others dealership knowing that this problem can come back even with a headlight change will just drill hole in it!

Happen even with stick HID projector!

I've just drilled a few holes in the covers...similar to kidinspace's pics :)

Changing a whole headlight for a design flaw seems like an expensive very temporary fix! Seat France must be wealthy :)

Mine were replaced under used car warranty from Seat but as i paid a contribution they are guaranteed for 2 years but if they are done free they are not covered. Am having one replaced again, didn't last five mins!

Im glad i found this post as my light is completely covered in condensation and i was starting to get worried
Cheers guys

You dont HAVE to drill holes...

I simply removed the covers, turned the lights on, and used a hairdrier (on and off to avoid warping the plastic) until completely clear, and finally added Vaseline to the cover seals. Ever since the lights have been bone dry!

Better keeping the water out than in ;)
