Yes. However Teutonic Tamers claim is backed up by absolutely squat, and there certainly seems to be enough evidence going in favour of these catch cans - i was a sceptic until I looked in to it properly.
 
As this kit is designed based on the GTI (MK5) the stand for the can cannot be placed where the schematic on the installation manual shows. You need to drill two small holes on the panel above the front left wheel. The smaller catch just clears the pipe of the window washer tank so I assume the larger catch can will be more troublesome. Also have in mind that you need to leave some space beneath the tank to be able to unscrew the tap at the bottom and be able to slide a small tray or something to drain it. I wouldn't recommend the large can as I don't find it necessary, it won't fill that fast and you can easily every once in a while unless you are too lazy or you use filth for oil.

Got mine today as well, SWMBO was not impressed, but it is small but perfectly formed, and I'll fit it over the weekend...
 
Nada turned up here, could do with it though as it might just solve my fluttery idle.

Mark does the rev counter needle sit solid, but you can feel an inconsistency in the idle as the car shudders, or does the needle hunt too??

My idle (needle reading) is rock solid at 900rpm, but the car seems to shudder a little at tickover (and much more than ever it used to). No DTC's to speak of, but then if there was anything coming from exhaust side I wouldn't know as Stg 2 turns most of it off.

Needle stays consistent. But occasionally it sounds like its hunting and you feel the need to give it a little blip of throttle. Happens mostly when i'm stopped at lights idle.

If you check it on VAG-COM it looks mostly consistent flicking between 2 standard rpm figures (what the figures are escapes me at the moment something like 640rpm and 900rpm) but the needle doesn't move. I verified the rpm speeds on Chris's Cupra at the summer Awesome RR day and his did the exact same figures when idle but he doesn't have the idle hunting problem.

However I really need to drive to work with the computer logging the engine speed to see if it drops to a different figure when I'm idle at lights and stuff.

But the symptoms seem to fit a dodgy PCV. No DTC's are logged in VAG-COM.

Hmmm, then lets hope the catch can delivers the benefits we hope for.

In the main the car feels fine other than that. Only other slightly strange thing I have noted is when the outdoor air temp gets quite cold (very late at night) until the car is warmed up fully it feels a bit powerless. Once it gets to full temp it is fine. Don't know if this is the car protecting itself as there is so much electronic intervention, or something to do with the new intake / MAF housing.

If i were you Mark , next time you are at Awesome ask them to check your compression ratio , same symptoms as mine , and was diagnosed as faulty exhaust valves , ended up with new cylinder head being fitted.

Not pretty on such a young car.

List of suspect issues on these cars keep growing.

Suspect fuel cam lobes / followers
Dodgy exhaust valves
Excess fouling/carbonation on inlet valves
Questionable quality PCV valves
Injector spray pattern issues

For an engine that has won multiple awards they have a fair share of weaknesses.

Hope for your sake (and the rest of us) that the catch can helps. Given the state of some of the valves I've seen I do hope carbonation isn't causing the valves to come to an early end. I saw a photo of JonnyC's and they looked awful and at not bad mileage.

i dont know what suspension set up you have warren, but i know yours mark will be more 'solid' than mine with your dog bone etc. so engine/transmission vibration i expect will be felt more through the chassis. could it not be that i have the same problem (if it is a problem) but dont/cant feel it due to my softer/oem set up.
if i remember correctly the idle speeds were between 720-760 once warm.
 
Mine turned up today too.

Just for info Mark, only 30 of the catchcans turned up. All have been sent, but one of the 4 boxes seems to have gone temporarily AWOL.:doh:
 
As mentioned in another thread, mine arrived today too. Mine wont go on til next week sometime, along with the coilovers and another couple of tweaks ;)
