Hello! and LCR suspension advice

Hi there.
I have had a LCR from new for just over a year now (from a Saxo - hence the name...) and have been browsing the forums daily but never really posted before.

I am looking at doing some suspension modifications.
I will be getting the following:

Either Koni FSDs with Eibach springs OR Eibach coilovers
Neuspeed 28mm Rear ARB
Neuspeed 25mm Front ARB

Now I have read the suspension guide at the top of the page and was set on getting Bilstein PSS coilovers - but have just seen the price - nearly £900 !!!

The set up I want is for 'fast road' use and possibly a trackday. But I don't want to loose the comfort as I do some motorway miles with the family.

Would the FSD/Eibach set up or the Eibach coilover set up be best for me? They are both about the same price, supplied and fitted by JKM.

Also how much does the FSD/Eibach set-up lower the car. I want it no more than about 25mm.

Thanks for looking, hope to get some sensible answers from people with experience.

i would recommend the Eibach springs with either Eibach or Koni FSD dampers. I use to have H+R coilovers - brilliant handling but quite firm. I wouldnt say they were uncomfortable but sometimes the firmness could be quite annoying. Have now changed to Eibach springs and dampers and find them more comfortable than the oe suspension.

I have the H&R collies on me LCR.
Great handling, just a little firm but still miles better than OE. Lowered 30mm & pert! Drive the family around, no problemo.

Im soon to part with more £££ for some Neuspeed ARB's F&R.
I think the 25mm Front & 28mm rear is good set-up (what ill go for)

I have heard fsd/eibach are good set-ups and are cheaper than collies
Should lower 15-20mm, unless im corrected.

Some members of this forum have changed standard to coilovers and then coilovers to FSD/Eibach combo to get the right balance of road holding, performance and comfort.

In my opinion, the Eibach/FSD combo is the ideal solution if you don't want to lower it a massive amount and don't want to sacrifice the ride comfort at all.

i wouldnt bother lowering.i put 10mm rear wheel spacers and a 28mm rear neuspeed arb and the diference is amazing.lcr's are low anyway!!!

Did you change the front ARB at the same time? Should always be done in pairs IMO

no just the rear one and the wheel spacers.handling is amazing.nail the nose in the corner and nice wee drift from the rear.heard people sayin not to change the rear on its own but i have found it to be superb if the rear arb is set in the middle hole(intermediate stiffness)

I did the rear ARB only and coilovers and it felt plain odd on the handling on my car, I recommend a nice chunky front ARB, I think it's worth the investment. It transformed my car, others may disagree but I can only post what I have found

I'm sure if you shop around you could pay less, TBH there is a lot more variety on the market now than when I first looked 2 years+ back.

According to the reports the Koni FSD's are highly recommended and seem good value

Lowered 15-120mm I scraped the splitter less than with OEM suspension, strange but true, I think the reduction is nose diving under braking due to uprated dampers helped no end.

I have no prob with collies (H&R) set at 30mm all round. (carefull on humps & better than OE)!
If the FSD had come around earlier, this set-up would have been 1st choice.

Dont think collies are as rough as people say, they have improved, but people dont want massive amounts of lowering, so swing FSD's

Im going arbs soon & im sure they will make big diff on LCR!

the comfort of the H+R's are still good and probably acceptable to most people - I think I'm just getting old!

Think I am going to go for the FSD/Eibach setup with a drop of 20mm with 25mm front and 28mm rear arbs (oh and a small drop of REVO) . .
