yea, it's from engine breather, just didn't know if it was bad or not. Cheers for all your help, i'm gonna ring the garage tomorrow see if they can check the water pump, would it be that it's not pumping the water through east enough?

That would be my first action, knowing what these water pumps are like. The plastic impellor (the bit that acts like a fan a forces the water around) comes away from the metal shaft and just sits there not turning.

It's sounding more and more like a dodgy water pump. At 100 mph, your cooling system should be working pretty efficiently as long as coolant is moving around.

from what i've read on here the water pump problem sounds like the most likely culprit!

This has also got me thinking about the water pump on my (2003) TDI 130 sport.
I bought mine in November, and got the (independent) dealer to replace the cambelt (which was overdue at 68k, and mechanic said it was cracked all over), however that was before i had done extensive reading on SCN to discover i should have got the Water Pump replaced. I doubt the dealer would have thrown in a new water pump
Now that i know the symptoms to look out for (if / when it gives up). now has 74k miles
Anyone know the approx cost of replacing only the water pump?

Good News/Bad News

Good news is, the pressure problem on my car seems to have sorted its self out. Bad news is, theres not too much pressure because the turbo has stopped working all together :(

Could these to problems be related? Maybe the turbo over boosting?

It was making a horrible screeching sound a couple of weeks before it went, and does anyone recommend a better turbo?

As said, the coolant and the turbo are not connected.

if your not blowing steem anymore I would guess that the plastic impellor in your water pump has managed to catch onto or pick up the metal shaft and is working at the moment.

Why do you reckon your turbo is not working?

The turbo last night wasn't pulling properly, as i had lost most of the power. its was working today but the pull is not as strong, this has solved the presure problem because there aint as much power running into the engine to overheat the coolant.
Need to find a good VAG garage/ motorsport garage in birmingham to sort it out any good sugestions?

There are plenty of members running WAY more power than you are on standard cooling systems - T.Spark is an obvious one who springs to mind.

Glad you're getting it into a specialist though as - and sorry for being blunt - you don't seem to know what you're talking about.

Hope Midlands VW get it sorted for you quickly
