went out for a blast today to do some logs etc and on the way back the temp gauge went up and the red light started beeping so immediately pulled over and left her idleing while i had a nose under the bonnet the temp started to drop and the fans kicked in full tilt

ive just noticed there is no return flow to the top of the bottle which to me points to water pump?

its just had all the belts done before i got the car, altho the garage has just marked up cambelt kit not specifically water pump, also a couple weeks ago i changed the thermostat as it wasn't getting up to temperature

would a stuck closed thermostat cause no return flow to the bottle?

just looking for abit of guidance done a good search already and read some other peoples woes, ill get onto the garage tomorrow and see if they have a record of what actually was done to the car

cheers

to be honest i drove it straight home after and even crawling along at 20ish it was creeping up and no hot air through the vents in the cabin water level is fine too

looks like a busy day tomorrow then, thing is the guys just had the belts done before i bought it he must have cheaped out!

well it was the pump as suspected, done and dusted with a new metal water pump, just an absolute nightmare getting access down the side of these engines!

thats what i thought lee! literally its 30 seconds once then belts out the way to change! everything else was done the idler pulley and the tensioner

as soon as i got to the pump i could see it was old and never changed so was abit glad when i took the 3 bolts out, then out popped the pump but left the impellar in the engine!
