HELP! Newbie With a Lumpy Leon

Okay..

I love my car.. very, very much.. So much that I don't want anything nasty to happen to it. So, if someone could help, I'd be REALLY grateful!

Leon Cupra - 2001. I have a very strange problem.

My idle speed occasionally fluctuates between around 400rpm - up to 1100rpm, and then back to around about where it should be. WHY? So annoying..

Also, at the same time today, My ESP light came on without my having pushed the button - at the same time it started running oddly.

Any ideas? I have new plugs, do I need a new coil pack, or is it something more sinister!

Had the same problem on my girl friends care and i know its a different scale of car golf 1.6 petrol to a cupra but it was a dirty throttle body and a dodgy air flow meter...

Its probably neither of these but worth a check.

You were right, dodgy air flow meter. It felt good walking in there and suggesting that only to be told that I (you) were absolutely correct in your assumption!

She's running like a bloody DREAM now! Excellent!
