Help over heating 120c!!!!!

Hello all,


I just replaced my Oil pressure switch and then disconnected my battery for 20min on my 03 LCR which cleared the Yellow warning light off my dash, i just brought the LCR for a spin and then i noticed when i got back the temp gauge was reading near 120c, 117c in VAG 409.

Can anybody tell me what the problem could be, i notice my fans did not kick in.

All i did was disconnect the battery and replace the oil Pressure switch, nothing else.

are the fuses for the fans under the bonnet by the battery ok?
water pump ok?

think there has been a few threads about overheating, have a search and see what turns up

One of them looks a bit bend out of shape and one of the contacts looks burned, i will swap it with a new one and test. There are 3 fuses on top of my Battery, so i assume you mean those ones?

Also how do i get a picture into the message, i find it helps other people if they are reading posts.

Al,

I replaced the Green 30Amp fuse and the fans are kicking in now.
Weird the old fuse didn't blow, but did look like it was melted around the contacts.

Anyway thanks a million for your help.

water damage to the fuses mate, its worth replacing all 3 fuses if thats the case. blocks the contact

Will do, At 50c a fuse its defo worth it, i would say it was water damage alright, its kinda spitting rain here in Ireland today when i was under the bonnet.
