Help sound 1.2 tdi engine

Hi everyone! Besides saying that I'm new here and that I think this site is wonderful, I wanted to ask if anyone could tell me what this sound could be. I can only hear (at least when I do) inside the car. It's like a grr grr grr when idling, and when I accelerate, the sound seems to get a little faster and louder. I went to a mechanic and he told me it could be "the alternator head" (?). If anyone could help, thanks! I have vídeos but i think i cant uploaded it.
