Help with Fault code 00515

Hello.
A friend has a mk3 golf (OBD port) and he has read off this fault from his ECU:

00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) - No Signal

Could anyone shed some light on this please ?

The cam sensor is sending no signal, either its unplugged, wire broken, seised to function or the sensor pick up is damaged.

thanks for that MJ, after a bit of digging it seemed to be that it was just because the engine wasnt running !

it wont show that fault mate just because its not running.
