I removed my rear wiper ages ago so i had a spare port coming off of the washer pump. I used 2 water injection nozzles, 3mm & 6mm vac hose and some tie wraps. It sprays an ultra fine mist at the intercooler. Just need to find a way of keeping the bugger on without holding it. :confused:
 
Pressure boost switch is what im going to order. CAn get them off ebay i think works on pressure comming into the switch to activate or deactivate. There also adjustable i tink from 1-25psi but would want it at low psi before boost. Im fitting a system to mine this weekend need to go and get some parts this morning . I have a little 3mm red l.e.d in my boost panel so i know when it comes on, a 3 way on - off - on switch so i have manual mode which just switches the pump on all the time and auto mode with the pressure switch. Im using mondeo rear washer jets as they spray in a very fine mist.
 
Well i thought tht but people have used ibiza washer jets, and ive checked and the modeo rear washer jets spray a very fine mist. I fitted it today got all wired up baring the boost switch which is on order. Am waiting on fitting my FMIC before i drill my washer bottle n put the pump n pipe work in, but tested it today and all works.
 
Yip they have, but that's because they haven't done any research into it. ;)

The effectiveness of an intercooler spray is largely determined by the water droplet size – a very fine water mist(water injection nozzles)will evaporate much more quickly, absorbing much more heat than a system generating large droplets(washer jets!).

Thats one very indepth look into intercooler water spray systems isn't it lol but very helpful, cheers for the link. I have fitted a on - off - on switch so tht i can manual switch the pump on say after long periods of boost to help cool the system down and also a boost pressure switch to operate during boost. Like in that article might be worth fitting a temp sensor to the intercooler to monitor. Cuprabaz have you fitted a system like this or hav not bothered?
 
had a go off this today meself... one of the cheapest mods ive done so far. cost £8 for 3m of 4mm id vac hose and half dozen tie raps..... sorted

got rid of me rear wiper...used that to feed water to my fmic, the vac hose runs on the fmic in a 'U' shape but on its side if you get me with about 50 pin hole's in, works a treat, only been for a little drive so far and it does work.. couldnt get AIT below 21' but with a bit off spray went down to 19'

should be good in warmer weather though

aii, its got plenty off pressure, i tested it first and it did squirt far out the end of the 4mm hose,

im pretty pleased with it tbh..
 
i take it you are just running water through this not screen wash? as screen wash can be slightly corrosive iirc.
 
I did do some intake temps after fitting it... best i saw was 2' drop in temperature , think it was 21' down to 19' so didnt make much difference.

Oh i see. iwas expcting temps 7-10 C drop... not worth it if is only few c ....:blink:
