Who do you think is faster from 0 - 100. Are there any numbers in praxis? Where is Honda better (handling,....)

Thanks

sadly i know the outcome :(

had a run with a civic type r the other week on a private road of course, to about 65mph i just had the edge, then his v-tec came alive. Them babys rev to 9500rpm happily, 197bhp, NA car, and 6 gears to play with. He pulled away from me when my car was loosing out of breath. Fair play to him. We had 3 goes from the 3 sets of lights on the private road, each time was the same outcome....i had the edge upto appx 65-70mph then he got away. Got to the forth set of lights where i had to turn right, the thumbs up of appreciation from the civic driver was given. (yes it was the thumb, not the middle finger!) Respect to the v-tech. Looked bogo stock too.

My ibiza is 207bhp with 248lbft, it was a warm humid evening which wasnt helping my poor K03 either.

Im still happy with the cars performance, brings a smile to my face still.

IMHO I my opinion the CTR would come out on top with this one.

the cupra would prolly get a better start and such but as it only pulls to 5k revs the CTR would real him in due to the simple fact that it revs to something like 9.5k revs.

It would be a different story with an uprated IC fitted to the cupra but this is now getting silly and I think these post's are just this- due to the fact that both cars are very modifyable and I you will find most CTR owners do things to their motors too.

:think:I just can't wait for the CTR 240 BHP to be launced:yes:

A bit of SPT technology would of helped there mike.
Think I would of had him in the vengabus;)
who's to say it was a stock CTR though-prolly got a V6 turbo in there so not to worry.

mike-get back on MSN,need a chat about a man with a dog:confused:

I've got a chipped Ibiza, the bloke that sits next to me has a CTR. We both goto trackdays together and I beat him in a straight line, corners and everything, and he openly admits that my car is faster. I also have camera footage of me racing him at various trackdays.

Thanks

But you have a nice list of mods to go faster... is he bog standard?

my mods: REVO, Green panel filter, jetex cat-back, Forge 007P. RR'd @ 207bhp, but like i said it was a warm evening so that could hold back a little power? plus, who knows if the guys civic was stock or not? we'll never know.

i reckon u had yer dress on and drove like a woman, then stalled it and rolled into the kerb

poof

:p

Had no problem with the last two i came across but weather suited my car more as it was way back in January , nice and cold .
Probably struggle in this heat but would still expect to beat a stock Civic R .
Like you say who says it was stock ????

Civic R is a very tunable motor .

well in a way I suppose it is,all be it at a very large cost anyhow due to it being a NA car.

The usual stuff like exhaust, air filter, chip, etc aint gonna get you anywhere near the % BHP increase that can be achieved with a 20vt cupra and in doing this it will prolly only just manage to squeeze a few extra horses out thats all.

My cupra's gone up from 156bhp to 220bhp(at the mo) and I make that roughly a 40% increase.Still the bottom line is the CTR starts out life straight from the honda factory at 200bhp and is a very quick car from the off so no need to mess about with it really.

I've done a 14.8 @ 95.6mph in my CTR before. My 1/8 mile was 9.64, so it sounds like that CTR needs to get some practise in to me.

Yes, a standard CTR would thrash a standard Ibiza Cupra, but then the name of this thread is "Honda Civic Type-R vs. Chipped Ibiza Cupra"! :)

Civic R is a very tunable motor .

Really? Have you got any details? My mate with the CTR has been looking for mods for ages and can't find any! Yes there exhausts etc which may give a couple of bhp extra, but to get a proper increase costs a fortune. There is a 260bhp kit for it that cost £8000!!!!!

Cheers
Ben

Both of the above cars rock and I should know I have one of each. However it is unfare to try and compare them agianst each other as they are very different animals. The Civic is awsome straight out the box but has very little tunability at the right price, on the other hand the Ibiza is breathless and handles like a barge out the box but is much improved with a few simple relatively cheap mods. If you want to compare them then I would say the are much the same as for £15k you could have a lot of fun in an awsome hatchback.
