OK, so I think I am finally ready to paint the grill! The honey comb section is fully glued in, sanded and ready (it's not actually taken that long, I just never seem to find the time at the moment...)

Badge is just placed on or now (and the right way up this time!)

So, question for anyone out there who has painted plastic before.... How should I, or what should I use to paint this so it looks as much like a plastic finish as possible? I'm assuming that normal car paint will just look glossy, or am I wrong?

Any help would be most appreciated!

I finished mine, there's some photos in my RR.

I primed then plastic primed it first, I painted it grey as that's what my other grills are but a I think a satin black would match the normal black plastic ones

Looks great, really want to get mine painted now!!

Epic work guys! I wish I had the skillz to make one myself :(

On a side note..you know the two plastic plugs that hold the grille in at the top. Any idea what they're called or where to get them from. I managed to pop the cap off one of my yesterday..doh!

I'm not sure what they are called but Dave at SERE on here sells them. Best bet is to take a picture of them and circle them or something. They are only a couple of pence each.

FR MATT may I ask where what color paint did u use to paint that grill and where did u get your mesh from its diffrent from the Toledo one

Cheers

Its a dark grey that doesn't quite match the other grills. The mesh is from an Altea FR front lower grill

Just to show that it's finally painted and on the car :)

Looks excellent. I'm currently doing mine the exact same as yours. I'm still smoothing out the grill surround and buying the honeycomb grill. Not too gone on the slim badge though, I mite go badgeless or else cut the orignal badge into the honeycomb (which I feel would be a right pig of a job!) What did you use to stick the grill to the surround?

So far, I have just stuck the badge to the grill using the pre-applied sticker that comes with it, plus a bit of black cotton wrapped around the back of the badge and the honeycomb (just a little extra security), but I am also wondering if I would prefer a larger badge... Just gonna leave it for a couple of days and I see what I think :)

Be interesting to see yours when finished!

I think zach has a bigger slim badge. Mines grown on my now I don't mind it. I think yours would be better a bit lower

Next on my list of parts to order...
Wont be for a while though because I promised myself not too buy anymore until I fit all the parts I have/ in transit.

Looks sweet. One question though. How come some of the grills are small honeycomb and on other cars its a larger honeycomb?

Didnt realise there were different size grills

Pre-facelift is smaller honeycomb, facelift is the larger honeycomb.

Anyone got one made ,that they are willing to sell ,feel free to give me a hint ;-)
