hose blown off...

was driving home last night and heard a hissing noise..... hmmmm wonderd what this was so stopped and had a look. i realised that the pipe onnectind the smic was sitting slightly higher than normal so pushed it back on. carried on driving then heard a massive BANG!!!!!! lots of blak smoke oh dear the intercooler pipe had blown off. crawled back to my mates house, took the bumper off to find the problem, the little alloy luggs that attatch the two hoses tohetehr have burred off so while the bumper is off will order the forge fmic was wondering y this might iv happened and if there will be any damage to the car? long post but hey. cheers chris.

same thing happened to me earlier , am ordering new pipes. seals and clips tomorrow( today really) it will fix it lol

the gauge hit 2 bar then bang , limp mode

Mine did exactly the same the other week, not what I wanted for my birthday but was relieved it was only a £20 part after the bang it made!

I've been given the impression that the majority of the 1.8T hoses are a straight swap... Do you know if there's any truth in that?

If not, would you consider developing a kit?

From memory, when I discussed coolant hoses with Lloyd, he said there wasn't any kits available to his knowledge.

After one of my main coolant pipes split (from thermostat to n/s of radiator), a local VW specialist at a weekend said they couldn't get a part, but they could swap it from one of the 1.8Ts on their forecourt.

Would be interested to know how many parts are common - is there a way it can be checked with part numbers?

Need to get my car booked in at Allard's to have the map redone - smokes far too much at the mo... Want it sorted for the PVW Rolling Road Day at Stealth!

just got my fmic fitted whoooooo got my car back..... anyone know what caused my problem of the hose blowing off in the first place? or are these just bad seals/hoses?

Usually, it's just oem cannot handle it. It's why i use 8 bar marine grade bolts throughout my whole system. The actual bends will burst before those clips give way.

also having problems fitting the bumper on correctly the hoses seem to be in the way.... do i need to cut the bumper or can the hoses be re-routed? its a forge fmic just put it on.....
