The manual states that in "certain markets" there's a button on the side pillar next to the driver's seat. Of course, I must be outwith certain markets as my Leon doesn't have such button. I checked 2 cars in the local dealer's lot and they also lack the button. The salesman didn't know any better.

Mind you, I only want to turn off the interior sensors as I sometimes leave the dog in the car. I still want the alarm to stay 'on'.

Is there a work around when the car lacks the disable button on the pillar?

From the manual:

Vehicle interior monitoring and anti-tow system*
Monitoring or control function incorporated in the anti-theft
alarm* which detects unauthorized vehicle entry by means
of ultrasound.
Activation
– It is automatically switched on when the anti-theft alarm is acti-vated.
Deactivation
– Open the vehicle with the key, either mechanically
1)
or by press-ing the  button on the remote control.
– Press the button  on the remote control twice. The volumetric
sensor and tilt sensors will be deactivated. The alarm system re-mains activated.
The vehicle interior monitoring and the anti-tow system are automatically
switched on again next time the vehicle is locked.

Hi Slo - unfortunately I don't have a Leon to try with yet, however on my Ibiza this is achieved by pressing the lock button on the remote an additional once or twice.
You'll be able to tell this has taken affect by the number of flashes the LED makes on the door.

Unless someone comes up with detailed instructions you could test this by leaving a window open and sticking your hand in. :D

Concerning the alarm system -

On my Leon, in the overhead consul I have the two front interior lights and their switches, two small grills which I presume are to detect sound linked to the alarm system and then two red led lights ( which are located towards the front of the consul, very near the windowscreen.

I don't understand the purpose of these two red leds as they are always illuminated when the ignition is switched on, and obviously someone has the correct key in the ignition.

I can't see them being part of the alarm system, so why would they be illuminated ?

They are to illuminate the cabin, just in case you forget where you left the gear stick.

Yes  just been and had a closer look - they only illuminate if the lights are on.

Thanks Paul / Jimi, my mistake, yet another of the Leons little features that isn't mentioned in the handbook.

so because there's no anti-tilt switch on my B pillar (im guessing that's where it is judging by the illustration in the manual) does that mean there's no function to disable it, ie when travelling on car ferries, or does the double-click function cover it instead?

Think that also undoes the deadlocks, too.

Yes it does. Reasoning is that if you have left something in the car that is capable of activating the motion sensors it might need to get out in an emergency. Not sure if Fido knows that though.....
