how do i recode my sterio???

hi have taken the battery off my car and it has come up on the screen as safe 2 according to my manual there is a waiting period but does any one now how long and how it is ment to be done???i have the code for the car but can not get the code stage there it is just allways a safe 2 and will not let you do anything any ideas?? car is a 2001 cupra

Had this 2 days ago, I searched and found the solutions quite handy..

I left my Stereo switched on, locked the car, went back an hour later and it was back to 1000, put in the code and all is good!

Mine comes up straight away!

If it says SAFE I just turn the volume control, press the prog button or the left right arrows and that usually brings it into the code entry. Did this many times during install of cruise and ipod connector....

is it a dealer job if you dont have the code or can it be done on vag com?

he has the code but cant get past the safe mode stage.... in safe, if you press pty then search buttons it should bring you back to the pin section... enter your code.. pty then your away.

yea i just wondered as have one in the house which i dont have the code for and wondered if there is an easy way of getting it

try entering the pin in one of those online pin unlockers for radios.... they do work actually and i ve used 1 before..

i have code but can not do anythin it is not reading safe but safe 2 will not allow my to use any of the buttons?how mch would a dealer normally charge any ideas

safe 2 means you just have a longer wait that safe 1 until you have to enter the code again. The waits between incorrect codes get progressively longer. Hopefully you have the correct code so you wont have to wait too long!

I've not got the code for mine, and will be taking it out to put a handsfree in - is there a way to get the code off while it's working? I've got the VAGCOM lead on order, and will start with shareware..
